Well that would probably be too much to turn down, but I can't believe that they would really offer that.

It's still top 3 protected in 2017. It's unprotected in 2018.

So again (and again and again and ...). You don't need the worst record to get the first pick.

Duh!!! But have you seen our track record?? Obvs the league doesnt want that to happen so the only way we can give ourselves a fighting chance is having the most lottery balls. We'll get the 3rd pick again and take Jaylen Brown, decent consolation prize

My preference would be Ingram, but either would be great. It would, however, be extremely devastating to fall out of the top 2.

I'd prefer Ingram over Simmons. I have a feeling that Simmons won't be as dominate in the NBA due to his poor shooting. What's he going to do...drive the lane every time down court against guys the same size as him? Yea, don't think that will work long term...

Highly unlikely that whomever has the worst record gets the #1 pick this year. I just don't see the worst team getting the top pick two years in a row when the worst team has only gotten the top pick 3 times since 2000.

My guess is that a team like Phoenix, New Orleans, or Denver ends up with the #1 pick with everyone else getting bumped down one spot.

Meaning we get stuck at 3 for the 3rd year in a row

Well there is the possibility that he just works hard and becomes a viable shooter, right?

There is a heavy sprinkling of magic fairy dust on Simmons that transcends his individual skills. He is a special talent. He will improve his skills over the years, but you can't learn to have his vision, athleticism, or feel for the game. He is a born superstar in that regard. Now you go about improving his skills.

Unless you subscribe to the lottery being fixed theory, previous lottery results hold no bearing on this lottery's probability.

Simmons is 6'10 with a quick first step (super key to being a star btw) with great touch around the rim.

There aren't many guys who will be able to truly check him night in and night out. Those who can are the elite defenders.

People are so quick to focus on the flaws of these unfinished products. Yeah he can't shoot, that sucks...but we aren't contending next year anyway...so we can wait for him to figure that out. Jah's improvement also shows that Brown isn't all talk on that front (Noel too...yeah its still god awful but he is still waaay better than he was prior). Yes our history isn't great but we also haven't had many "elite" prospects. Those guys make that leap in various skills like that,...its what sets them apart.

Ingram from Saturday. He is a sharp shooter and can score every different way.

QUESTION FOR THE BOARD: Can Simmons be asked to play PG and constantly drive to the paint like Wroten? No one could stop Tony from getting to the rim. Tony's problems were twofold; he couldn't finish and he didn't pass after drawing the double team. Simmons will not have those shortcomings. Simmons would get tired but he'd score a lot.

Simmons' biggest problem would be guarding PGs like Wall (speed) or Kyrie (change of direction).

Simmons wouldn't necessarily need to guard the opponents PG. This is where having rim protectors and defensive length/versatility otherwise is of great value to the team...it gives you many options/approaches.

I think you play him like Lebron were he is essentially replacing the point guard in terms of duties regardless of what position he plays. The actual 1 just has to be able to defend and shoot.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Weirdest thing is that Canaan kinda fits that to a T lol

I really, really hope we have to make this choice or 'get stuck' with the 2nd choice. Both look amazing. But lottery balls.......Can't bring myself to get invested this year.
