No one took him before 16. No one traded up to get him. Doesn't seem like anyone but Sixers fans wanted him.

Because later first round draft picks never work and every front office knows exactly how each player will turn out. No, you’re totally right. I don’t know why you don’t work for an NBA team

Since it came up twice, “boomer” was an adjective describing the fanfic, as I’ve alluded to before.

The rest I didn’t read and won’t address because it doesn’t serve as an alternative for much needed therapy.

Glad to see you can admit that you need therapy.

Lol so just because nobody drafted him before, and nobody traded up to get him, it means no one wanted him? Your logic makes no sense. By this logic, any player that wasn't traded for and that wasn't the first pick was not wanted by anyone apart from the team that picked them? Go to sleep

Anyway back to actually talking about basketball instead of homophobia…

I think the McCain pick makes even more sense in context of the PG signing. Excellent floor spacer when Maxey is off the floor & PG is running the offense. Maxey/McCain/PG lineups where we absolutely bomb away from 3. Eric Gordon is probably the perfect mentor for him too.

I think dance boy will get some time this year, he seems like a ready type of rookie.

Eric Gordon is gonna be a great mentor for him.

I'm going to be bold and say that you can play them together. Lowry and Maxey have played together, I think McCain can too. It depends on his defensive abilities. He's short, but if he can defend, then it won't be a problem. It wasn't a problem in 2019 when Toronto played Lowry and FVV together. McCain has that FVV/Jalen Brunson type of game. I think he's going to play right away.

Amazing how thin skinned you folks are SixersFan717 & Jailblazers about the kid. So fragile one can't even bring up facts about players. You assume its one thing about his sexuality when I am just calling him a distraction.

You are the only one distracted by his personal life. Everyone else in this thread is talking about his ability as a basketball player.

I think he’s going to consume Gordon’s minutes by year’s end.

Read on Twitter

The more I watch him play (... along with the rest of our squad)

The more it's starting to set in to me that we can't actually afford to trade him. Our depth is still extremely shoddy and I see a collective of washed up unknowns past our top ~6 guys.

McCain's physicality and ability to attack the rim with pace reminds me a blend between Brunson/Brogdon/McConnell and that's coupled with his upside of being a 10+ 3PA Per 100 Possessions at 40% type of floor spacer.

Growing pains to be expected aside, he looks like a keeper.

Now it's up to Morey to funnel our pick equity along with KJ and whatever else non-McCain fodder he can for one of those guys on a rookie scale matching contract.

I expect the pool of players to be Eason/Kuminga/Aldama/Murphy. Eason being the dream for me personally.

Dude gets an And 1 against one of the best backcourt defenders Derrick White. Wow!
It's a hot take and we're yet to see how he'll perform in actual games, but by next season he could be a significant contributor in the rotation, maybe even a starter. All of our other backcourt players besides Maxey are very old.
And I remember that a few months ago I saw a youtube analyst detailing how McCain actually shoots the best from 3 from positions where Maxey has the lowest percentage. So their potential offensive fit is very good. Defensive fit could be problematic though.

I think Morey may be looking to keep him because of his high work ethic, similarly as he wanted to keep Maxey, but yeah I am also fine with trading him for a win now piece.
It's just that if he develops really well, he could be one of our important players in our Joel-less future.

I think a bigger TJ McConnell who can actually shoot is the perfect comparison.
always a jump shot away.
