The oppurtunity to correct the mistake of signing him fell right into Morey's lap, I won't fault him for not offloading PG by using the VJ pick because he's the GM and ultimatley he'll be fired or resign... but what I can't tolerate are the fans who will complain throughout the length of his contract because they wanted to keep the 3rd pick so badly. This franchise ate the full length of Tobias contract, so they apparently have the stomach to eat George's contract as well. It is what it is

You would rather cheer for the owners not paying any tax, instead of rooting for VJ? Offloading PG does not result in any major flexibility going forward.

Yeah does almost nothing for us this year or next, especially with the Embiid timeline. Also PG's only got 2 years left after this year, really not that serious of a handicap.

Eh, he played 90% of games the year before we signed him, 70% the year before. That's 80% of games as a pretty big and most recent sample.

He's a health gamble for sure, but it wasn't crazy to sign him, and we aren't losers or idiots because so far we've lost the bet. Gambles are gambles, aint gonna wing em all.

(We are kinda losers for continuing to bank everything on old stars, I'd argue. Kinda.)

Embiid 66,68, 51,51 are the gms played before George contract season. 56, 31, 54, 48 are the games George played during that span. Ijs why gamble on a guy coming off a contract year at his age with his injury history at the cost he commands. It’s no coincidence we are where we are with George. As far as his health heading into next season being uncertain. I guess in his defense if I had to counter my point his injury was unfortunate. Still way too much money for an aging star player. Wish George the best but I cringed when we gave him that deal. Didn’t see him pushing the needle that much to justify it honestly.

But not to be a Negadelphian I hope he makes me eat crow and is better than I’m giving him credit for. East is wide open and we just need our best players to play together consistently over a season. Then see how it goes in the playoffs.

We don't even need them to play together consistently over a season. We just need them to play enough to be on the same page, and then be healthy for the playoffs. Best case scenario is that everyone is healthy all season. Unlikely.

Second best scenario... PG and Embiid both get hurt in the first month with injuries that keep them out until the All-Star break. The young guys get more playing time, our guards break out, and they keep us in the hunt for the playoffs. PG and Embiid come back, they have one rough week as players adjust to new roles and the old guys get their legs back. And then the team has an incredible record for the rest of the regular season, landing us around 3rd or 4th seed. Then everyone is healthy for the playoffs and we win it all.

Expecting both PG and Embiid to be healthy all year including playoffs is just unreasonable. So I'm hoping their injuries are early and not serious. And their return is (a) late enough that they don't get hurt again and (b) early enough that they can find cohesion with the team.

To clarify what I mean by consistently play together. I just want chemistry developed. And I don’t feel they happens when guys don’t play together. Knowing where guys like the ball, their tendencies all that stuff. I think having 82gms you can find a nice stretch to make this possible vs late in season. Second scenario isn’t a bad one but I question the chemistry being thrown off. Expecting George and embiid to be healthy all season was never a reality. I just would like/hope that come playoffs you see a team that played together before vs still trying to learn each others game. Due to not playing together much during reg season.

I love how these updates and timeframes with players are so vague these days. "Well Paul George will return next weekish plus" I mean WHO TF COMES UP WITH THIS CRAP? I try not to get heated as much these days. The Andrew Bynum debacle really changed me and then all this other $hit has just given me PTSD at this point, along with anxiety, but my God! Why can't we just get a reasonable update on when he'll be playing? "Next weekish plus" is such a 2025 answer at this point. Can't wait until he's gone. He is the worst free agent signing this franchise has ever made. I mean, Elton Brand was bad, but at least he tried to play. Paul George is just on some hold my beer $hit at this point. I don't even like Paul George the person at this current time. The guy is right there with Brad Beal about just openly not GAF about anything other than himself. Guess we'll see you next weekish plus Paul. And before any of you quote me telling me to chill or relax about this, make sure you reinforce in your minds that this team is paying him 40 ish + million to basically not even play. All I'm saying is that money could have gone elsewhere.
