Also... this is from the next paragraph of STChaser's post.

Peter Vescey wrote:With Kidd apparently spoken for, the player drawing the most attention from promising title contenders is Philly's Andre Miller. Nuggets, Cavaliers and Rockets are sincere suitors - Celtics feel they're first in line for Sam Cassell - but not serious enough to offer more than expiring contracts and a first-round pick in the 20s.

That ain't gonna pry away the 31-year-old miniature version of Chet Walker (can't jump, uncanny at getting opponents off their feet with little head fakes) from the 76ers. Miller can be had, but the exchange rate is quality.

So Vescey is also of the belief that expirings and a pick aren't going to get it done (good!). With Bibby and Kidd being moved so soon, the Sixers have all of the power in trade talks with the Cavs, Nuggets, and Rockets. I just don't know that I want anything from those teams and think that if Miller goes to any of them, hopefully it'll be a 3 team deal.

TGP, the Cavs are definitely going to have to get a 3rd team involved. They really don't have much to trade in my opinion outside of their draft pick, which is at 19 right now. According to NBADraft.net, we could potentially land a player like Serge Ibaka (PF) or Jason Thompson (PF) with that pick, but as we move closer to the draft, that could all change.

Hopefully some reports will leak what type of offers are out there for Miller other than the expirings/pick combo.

Also... if we're keeping up with the links thing today, here's another from the Akron Beacon Journal

Akron Beacon Journal wrote:According to several league sources, the Cavs are involved in discussions with a handful of teams. They have looked into acquiring point guard Andre Miller of the Philadelphia 76ers and shooting guard Mike Miller of the Memphis Grizzlies, among others. But neither is assured of being traded and if the Cavs get into bidding wars with other teams, they are not in a good position because they don't have very attractive trade assets.

yeah and this is our first x-mas in a long time-no more deals like Lee Nailon and our 2nd round pick for nobody so we can get under the luxury tax

I was playing around with a deal that sends Artest to Philly, Nene to Sac Town and Miller to the Nuggets.

But I could never get the salaries to match, and adding a couple of sweetens from each team to make it match.

After the previous years draft takes place, you can trade your following year's pick. It can be 08 and 10.

I like this comparison except I'm not excited to see if there's something under the tree (mainly because there's always coal in my stocking) but because I'm excited for this holiday season to be over with.

The trade deadline is way too much madness and too much speculation for my liking. I'll be happy when were past this so that we can get away from fantasy and get back to reality.

I really don't think we'll make a move. Teams that want Miller just don't have what we want.

I think Miller will be traded. Primarily because of the fact that we were interested in Lowry. That tells me that Stefanski was looking for insurance to trade Miller and that means that he isn't as untouchable as he's been made out to be in recent days.

Agreed. And even if you expanded it out to a 3 team deal, I doubt the Cavs, Nuggets, or Rockets have what it takes to turn the garbage we don't want into something that we do want.

Havent heard anything about Justin Will.

We like Lowry....but they doesnt mean we would trade Miller..think Lowry as back up point guard..we move Green or Carney and LouWill becomes backup SG.

I could see us getting Lowry or Bonzi Wells....or maybe a veteran PF. Thats about it though......we may move Ollie, Giricek, Green or Carney to do so.

I hope to talk to my buddy later today to find out some specifics.

I'd be happier than Courtney Love in a pharmacy if we could snag Lowry by giving up any of those listed above.

SendEm wrote:So I take it that you last two posters completely missed where I CLEARLY stated that Jason Kidd is a far better player than both Mark Jack and Rod Strickland implying that Jason Kidd will NOT suffer the same drop off in play?
Did you NOT read where I said that the slow of foot Andre Miller is the example of how effective Jason Kidd can be when he eventually slows down to where Andre Miller currently is?

Now that I've thought about it Dallas didn't overpay. Mark Cuban and his staff are functioning on a basketball level that most of the people that post on these boards can not comprehend. They make moves for now as well as several years down the line. Mark Cuban made this move to increase "The Window" as well as insure that this team will have the complete flexibility to retool and avoid having to rebuild and/or dump big money contracts trying to rebuild. It is clear that Cuban is trying to WIN NOW but at the same time has no problem with trading Dirk if this doesn't work out over the next couple of years.

Cuban will get his draft picks back if it ever gets to the point where he chooses to rebuild.

For all of you simple minded people, as long as Dirk is on the Mavericks Dallas is not suppose to have high draft picks so trading away 2 of them is meaningless.

Cuban has already set a precedent with Nash that he is more willing to be too early than too late. Cuban will retool the Mavericks far before the team gets to the point where their own draft picks have value.

Devin Harris is a small SG (which can be acquired easily), Diop is a stiff and 2 late round draft picks rarely even get you NBA players that can stay in the league for 7-8 years.

I know my stuff. I made that post above about Dallas trading for Kidd to "increase their window" because they are opening to trading Dirk to retool the team if this trade doesn't work out in a Championship.

Now this report comes out about Avery Johnson wanting to trade Dirk
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... rade_dirk/

Jason Kidd being traded to Dallas is similar in philosophy to Chris Webber being traded to the Sixers. The writing is on the wall for Dirk just like it was for AI.
