How big is reducing Embiid's potential super max down from Any All NBA Team/MVP/DPOY to just 1st Team All NBA/MVP looking right now?

Is that what is in the contract? I am just assuming that he will be paid the supermax because he will deserve it.

If he keeps it up he might mess around and get it anyway.

Yes. If he makes 2nd team all NBA or DPOY he will still only get a regular max.

Of course he deserves all the money in Philadelphia, but that extra $5 million in cap space could come seriously in handy this summer.

That was a very underrated give back by Embiid that went virtually unnoticed by outside commentators and podcasters. Wasn't talked about much, because people didn't think he could achieve those incentives either way.

So if Embiid does reach any of those he wouldn’t get a bump in pay?

My understanding is he only gets the super max if he is 1st team All-NBA or MVP. John Wall, for example, got the Super Max for getting 2nd team All-NBA.

He is going to be first team nba anyway either this year or next year if he stays healthy so I think he is going to get the supermax.

Next year doesn't matter.

Boogie is averaging like 30 points per game right now.

It only triggers the supermax if it happens in the first year? If it happens in the second year it doesn’t change anything?

Only if it happens before the extension kicks in, which is July 1, 2018. This year is still the last year of his rookie deal.

I don’t see the point in everyone making a deal out of the back to backs situation. The league is trying to completely get rid of them and make the schedule easier anyway, I honestly would not care if he never plays a back to back in his career

If Sixers win 50 plus games and New Orleans wins 40 games. Embiid averages 23/11/3/2. Embiid may still get first team all NBA over cousins even with cousins averaging 27/12/5.

Unlike all star games with only lists front courts, all nba team still lists centers

I do doubt embiid will be first team or second team.

He’s most likely third team all nba.

Who knows. Cousins will be first team. The media may give second team to KP (he’s a PF or C) or KAT. I would say Rudy Gobert but he’s been hurt.

Are we sure that he would have to be on the first team to trigger the supermax? I read an article that said that he just needed to be on the allnba team, which their are 3 of.

I’ll buy him not getting First Team over Cousins, but he is at least the second best center in the league right now.

Regardless, I want him to get whatever he can from a salary perspective. We are hitching our wagon to Embiid, and if he qualifies for the super max then so be it. He will deserve it.

We can always clear more salary if we had to.

Btw, he is probably more likely to be DPOY than he is to be first team allnba.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20985023/joel-embiid-extension-protects-philadelphia-76ers-case-contractually-specific-catastrophic-injury

For Embiid to reach the threshold of the super maximum contract criteria -- which would pay him 30 percent of the salary cap and ultimately as much as $176 million -- Embiid must earn first-team All-NBA honors or be voted the NBA's Most Valuable Player in the 2017-18 season.

Ok, I guess there isn’t much chance of it happening then. I just assumed that he would meet the requirements and we would pay him the extra money because he would reach them eventually.

Another feather in Bryan’s cap for the deal then.

So, with the back to back coming up, I’m assuming that Embiid doesn’t play on Wednesday against the Wizards.

The league doesn’t want stars being rested on the road.

I’m thinking that winning either one of these next two games is going to be tough.

Personally I'd rather play him against Washington because without Wall that should be a W if he suits up. Boston would be tough either way.
