3 seasons prior to Harden’s peak at 2018-2019
3PT SHOOTING
Made-attempt-%
2.5-8.4-31%
2.9-10.5-27.8%
3.1-10.2-29%
I want for Harden to make more step back 3s. But with how he, specially with Embiid, is generating open looks. I do think it would be detrimental for the team if he still bomb high volume number of stepback or challenged 3s.
Btw, i hope i can get a hand on this updated version of this stat

The solution is simple....Harden opts in and we see how it goes next year. No contract extension.
If we don't see an improvement; he becomes a great trade chip because of the expiring contract.

Improvement how? Becoming 'Houston Harden' again, or even something close to that? You might as well wait for a unicorn to appear while you're at it.
We don't need that player on this team, even if it was a remotely realistic thing. Do you not see how much better this team looks and operates with him compared to before? Just look how he has unleashed a Tobias Harris we couldn't have imagined, turning him from a certain salary dump into a solid two-way contributor who is now an asset. His presence has freed up Maxey to become the bonafide closer we have been searching for.
With a full off season to work with Embiid, that P&R will become lethal, and with some roster improvement this offense will be unstoppable. Not to mention getting his hammy issues taken care of.
I'll take the Harden we have right now and lock him up to a team friendly deal in a second, but it is not hard to imagine that he'll only get better as he settles into what is a brand new role for him.

Re: Welcome James Harden!
CP3 signed a 3-year $120 mil extension with Phoenix. I think we can keep Harden for 4-years $180 mil, which is the max he can get from any other team on the market. Harden’s very self-aware, evidenced by his adjustment to his game. He knows hes not worth the 5-year supermax.
I do think hell come back better next year. This year is his body telling him he needs to take better care of himself or else.

2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon

Somewhere between Houston Harden and what he is now. But if there's a sign and trade available this summer, I'd do it.
Or if he picks up the option and a team wants to trade for his expiring contract this summer, I'd do it.
I'm not interested in this version of Harden on any realistic "team friendly" deal

Re: Welcome James Harden!
All I want from Harden is to get back to his Houston shooting efficiency of 45 FG% & 35% 3FG%. I loved the way he’s played as our PG but just need him to hit more shots. But definitely don’t imagine him putting up 20 shots a game ever again.

Re: Welcome James Harden!
I think it's pretty clear at this point that Harden and Chris Paul are a study in contrast. Paul takes tremendous care of himself with the intent of leading his team to the championship that probably means more to him than anything in life right now, whereas Harden is a younger player but nonetheless "looks" older and far less effective because he doesn't take care of himself in the way needed to produce elite or near-elite level play at his age. You have to wonder how much winning a championship really means to Harden.
Consequently the Suns have the "spearhead" player I believe is necessary for a championship in the NBA -- at 37 years of age -- whereas the Sixers try to get it from a 21-year-old or their center, two approaches less likely to be successful, while Harden regularly wilts in the second halves of games when his team needs him most.

He needs to adjust for his age and role. Mainly, being able to knock down catch and shoot threes and to score in the mid-range when he can't get to the rim. The fact that's he's unwilling/unable to do either of those two things right now is an issue. But hopefully it's something that an off-season and training camp with his new team can fix like you suggested.

Completely new role with a new group. Give him an off season and a lot of those issues will be ironed out. I'd be very surprised if he didn't further develop his midrange game to mitigate the issues he will have finishing at the rim as he gets older.
Harden is a high IQ player, one of the reasons I loved the pickup, and part of that is understanding what he will be and won't be capable of as he ages. A midrange game ala CP3 would make his iso game lethal again, and I'd be surprised if he didn't spend a lot of time working on C&S 3's.

Oh, lord. After all this, after SO many of your previous posts on this subject have proven completely empty, are you really still here saying stuff?

Re: Welcome James Harden!
Great game by Harden last night. That's what the team needs from him in a playoff scenario. If he can deliver over the next three games at about 75% or more of that level of play, the team has a legitimate shot to win the series. If on the other hand he has his typical games involving low numbers of shots and points, especially in second halves, it'll be far more difficult obviously. The Sixers are going to need all hands on deck and a uniquely good team performance to win a game in Miami.

Re: Welcome James Harden!
The past 2 games feel like the ideal balance on the perimeter. Maxey & Harden should combine for 50 points a game. Sometimes Maxey will have the hot hand and others it’ll be Harden. But Harden’s playmaking provides a consistently stable offense that takes off once one of them gets hot.

Re: Welcome James Harden!
Everyone gushes about Chris Paul being the winner of all winners. Never won a title. James Harden is branded the choker of all chokers because he never won a title. It's hilarious these little agendas and narratives that exist in sports that don't hold up to scrutiny. And this is no knock on Chris Paul. He's an all time great. But not sure how he's considered the ultimate winner and Harden the ultimate choker. Imagine Harden playing two games back to back like Paul did vs the Mavs? People would be calling on the guy to retire and never return. Chris Paul does it and it's ho hum.
Btw, looking at Harden's December numbers and some high scoring games he had gives me hope he really is injured. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me that in December he still has elite scoring and March he's suddenly washed? Doesn't happen that fast.
But regardless, let's say this is what he is. The Sixers still need to keep him, because you see the difference in the offense when he comes out of the game. He's the only one who can adequately run an offense and is far and away their best passer.

It seems like Harden opting in for next year would be the best case scenario for the Sixers. Gives them a year to kick the can down the road.

The skills are still there. With a total commitment to fitness he can be a star for 3-5 more years. That means dropping 5-10 lbs and incorporating yoga and flexibility exercises (assuming he doesn't do them already). And limiting the nightlife lol.
Hope the opportunity to win big the next several years is good motivation. He'll have the rest of his life to party hard after stacking the trophy case and loading up on jewelry.

I checked some clips of Harden during the bubble. So he defended Giannis when they played microball with Tucker at 5.
