Sixers fans, I would like to get your thoughts on another Simmons deal. Here's the full scope:

https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7523227

For Philly, it's Simmons and Harris for Westbrook and Bridges. The deal gets you under the luxury tax, while clearing enough long term salary to pursue another star in the offseason. Russell has looked rough next to ball-dominant LBJ, but in Philadelphia he'd be at his best with a more prominent on-ball role. Miles is becoming a star, and would give Joel a more mobile, athletic and rangier frontcourt partner than he's ever had.
Curry, Westbrook, Green, Bridges, Embiid
Maxey, Korkmaz, Thybulle, Niang, Drummond
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Westbrook?

If there’s anyone who’s gonna end my Sixers fandom, its going after Westbrook

Done Deal.

Hawks:
Ben Simmons
Korkmaz
Danny Green

Thunders:
Tobias Harris
Jaden Springer
2022 Sixers Pick

Sixers:
John Collins
$37M cap absorption by Thunders
$32M Hawks (Dieng, Wright, Lou Will & Knox)
- Gets much needed big that can compliment everyone and solves secondary rebounder and rim protector problem while going under the cap by 40-50M to sign Harden

Sixers this season:
Maxey
Seth
Thybulle
Collins
Embiid

Sixers next season:
Maxey
Harden
Thybulle
Collins
Embiid

Done deal to me as well, although Maxey fits better as scorer in a Doc’s all bench lineup for next year.

Sorry about this. I miscalculated Hawks’ salary. Its just 22-23M of expiring

Westbrook straight up for Harris is a no.

The Hawks owe a considerable amount of compensation to the Thunder here. There are places Harris could make sense, but OKC ain't one of them, so they'd want a lot back to absorb that salary. And even with all the drama, I'd say Simmons is quite a bit more valuable than Collins.

Not sure if we could pull Hunter and Collins from ATL, but I'd at least want someone like Bogi coming back as well as opposed to all of that garbage. I get 76ci is targetting pure expiring, but I wouldn't mind brining in a bomber like Bogdan who loves to shoot the ball, can score a little and can handle the ball. Also has some good size. Especially since in this instance we're losing Kork (who is meh) in the process.

Maybe handover Thybulle, Niang and Reed for Hunter. (~8M salary exchange)

Hawks incoming:
Ben Simmons
Thybulle
Niang
Reed

Hawks outgoing:
Collins
Hunter
Dieng (EXP)
Wright (EXP)
Lou Will (EXP)
Knox (EXP)
2023 1st Round Pick
2025 1st Round Pick

Not like i wouldnt want that to happen. But knowing Morey, he’d probably find cheaper alternative.

Or maybe find another team to trade Collins to for an expiring like exchanging Collins to the Spurs for Thad’s contract and fillers and not needing to give a first instead.

But as is, its still a good deal and very doable (mega but not super complicated)

Agree for the cheaper alternative part. Hunter is way overvalued because of his draft position. He isn't anything to bend over backwards for.

Take the Green/Spurs part out. His contract isn't guaranteed for next year, so giving up a 1st to turn him into a worse player makes no sense.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
