Embiid not playing so they are showcasing Noel. he an Embiid haven't played together. Noel salary + possible extending Embiid = to much cash invested in 1 position.

As stated above the 76ers taking the blame for the lost season to protect Simmons run for ROY.

I agree on the soft tank and Noel. However holding out Simmons for ROTY is just pointless. Guys like Tyreke Evans and MCW won rookie of the year. No one cares!

Yeah we don't care..
I want him to get real NBA experience with the team however his "Brand" has an opportunity to capitalize on the ROY. He will be 1 year ahead of everyone else in the class and his competition appears to be headed to Boston (Ball) were he will be playing behind Thomas..
Make them respond to your way of playing not the other way around

sorry i've been extremely patient, and supportive of tanking, but I want him on the damn court. i don't care if it's for 20 games, i want to see the #1 overall pick play basketball in uniform this season.

sorry if that makes a "lesser fan" than other people, but i'm sick of worrying about the future. if he can play, he needs to play

there is a video on csnphilly website where they discuss the injury of ben simmons and based on that video, the recovery time for the jones fracture is around 4-6 months.

If you wanted to express your thoughts on Okafor's trade value, it's actually this thread:

I'm not even remotely surprised that this latest news about Simmons is coming out. To me it's just a ploy for them to tank the rest of the season. Given that there is less than 2 months left, we might as well shut Simmons and Embiid down, keep Okafor until the offseason and possibly trade Noel at the deadline for picks (for greater flexibility) so that we can ensure ourselves of a top 5-6 pick.

Heheh, good one. That was an accident...

This management team is a lost cause and i have zero confidence moving forward. Similar to how infeel with howie roseman/ lurie for the eagles. I would kill to have a croce/hinkie team here instead of snake colangelo and scott oneill the buffoon.

I think he's missing the season regardless.

Rumors were that his agent didn't want him to play this season, we excused those rumors as ridiculous. Now, months later, here we are and his agent seems to have gotten what he wanted. Conindence? Lol...

agreed, and it's a scumbag move by him too. And I think ownership is falling on the sword for him too. They're even going so far as agreeing to play the bad guy as he pretends to be upset about playing when in reality that decision was made the day the doctor told him it'd take him 12 weeks to heal. The only way I'll believe different is if he does in fact play. I feel for you fans, I'd be so pissed. I can't believe there are so many that take the official statements hook, line and sinker. Fans are so desperate (not just PHI fans but all fans of all team) to see their team successful they'll excuse this treatment from their teams and players. Such a shame for those guys that bought tickets specifically because Simmons was drafted.

Rubbish that Simmons is being branded as choosing to sit out to win ROY next year. Simmons has never cared about any awards for that matter. If he did he wouldn't in his College year have decided to give away a guaranteed Wooden Award by skipping the entire last semester of school.

In fact it doesn't even make sense with the timeframes of what has happened this year. He was right up to schedule with his 5 on 0's, being out on court prior to games... right up until the day he had his 16 week scan. As soon as that 16 week scan happened he went into hiding and you stopped seeing footage of him practising or being on court before games.

If the intention was for him to never play this season going back to October... it makes no sense that they had started trying to bring him back from January 1... and then stopped dead in their tracks 24 Feb after the 16 week scan. It's obvious they found something at that scan.

I said that his disappearance off the face of this earth after that 16 week scan worried the hell out of me... and thought the organisation was lying to us.... and was told I was just a conspiracy nut and panicking and that I should "back track and admit I was wrong" when he comes back. Now we are hearing he had an issue at that scan exactly as I suspected.

What is more worrying to me is the disgraceful lying that the 76ers have done to their fans. If we find out now there was a problem... and they told fans that the scan was ok and he was "progressing as expected" then heads need to roll.

This goes all way the way back to Andrew Bynum. I remember buying opening night tickets that season because the team kept pushing that he would be back in time for the regular season. Then it was December. Then New Years, then February....

This definitely comes from Harris and Oneal. They want to cash in with as many ticket sales as they can before they finally have to say wait until next year.

Even if it's for branding, I'm not blaming Simmons for that. Rich Paul / Klutch Sports are arguably the best in the business and they've built an empire with Lebron. Simmons is a valuable commodity for them that they're incentivized to do their best by.

If he is still injured and this actually did require the entire season, no finagling, than so be it, but I'm skeptical. I'm going to be skeptical of anything now, tho.

So... whats the chance that scan is followed up 3 days later with "We have decided to shut Ben Simmons down for the season". 90%?

So is the scan going to happen on Monday or on Thursday?

You called it.

What if the ROTY awards are coupled with huge money bonuses? That would make it more likely. Nevertheless, if Simmons had the chance to play NBA at 1 February and not win the ROTY award or sit out an entire season, I'm sure he would have chosen the first option.
That scan in January probably showed some signs of the bone not being fully healed yet, so they dialed back the intensity of the workouts to give the bone more time to heal? If that's the case, I'm fine with this process.

No excuses for the blatant lying by the organization though. :noway:

Very skeptical at the moment - I'm at the stage of wishing for the boys on court playing out of their skin to get as many wins as possible going forward to basically give the big finger to the lame ass tank minded management.
If Karma gets involved the Lakers will get their pick and Philly and Sac will tie their wins at around position 11 or 12.
They make their freaken money from the fans - time to listen to them.

Yeah I don't believe it was ever Simmons or his management's intention to sit out the entire year but if the Sixers though don't bring him back until 2 to 3 weeks left in the season which is 90% what will happen anyway as he is running out of time to debut... then I think he and his management are quite within their rights to decide to shut it down for the season. The ROTY would only be part of the reason... the main part is there is nothing to be gained from playing only 10 games and risking injury for a season that's over.

That's not his fault though... that's the team management for not letting him play earlier.
