Not saying Okafor is good defender. But Ibaka at this point of his career is a very overrated defender.

Yea....after looking at it, even his rim protection has been on the decline over the past few years. Not sure what the correlation between it is....he was literally blocking 3-4 shots a game in his 3rd and 4th years in the league.

He's literally 36.

BC, not like he should rush a trade, but this is getting stupid. I've never heard of a player being held out of a game for trade speculation and not traded within 48 hours.meanwhile, Okafor isnt gaining any value with the trades that have recently gone down

a somewhat young wing who can shoot the 3 and is hyper athletic + a 1st rounder isn't a bad return on a guy who is likely to bounce anyways and get massively overpaid this summer.

I'm not really sure what to think from an absolute value perspective but the trade seems reasonable for Orlando when considering their future. Ibaka is wasted on that team since they aren't competing and he's blocking their best chance at a future top 25 player in Gordon. With Gordon shifting to his natural position at the 4, they'd need a wing to replace him. I'm not a big fan of Ross but he should fit alright, assuming they're going with a Payton/Fournier/Ross/Gordon/Biyombo lineup, though I'm guessing they'll keep starting Vuc until they can move him.

He plays PF so defending within 6 feet is less important and his reb numbers are skewed.

Ross:
1.3 OBPM|0.0BPM
16.7ppg4.1rpg1.3apgP36

Oladipo:
-.2 OBPM|-1.1BPM
17ppg4.7rpg2.7apgP36

I don't think it's THAT bad for Magic. Specially with how risky Ibaka is.

I totally know he's worthless on defense. I just don't think he's the worst player in the history of the NBA. Apparently that makes me a Prokafor lol.

haha sorry bud, haven't been reading every page....was just chiming in on the conversation. I agree with Okafor not being the worst player in the NBA, that is a gross overstatement even with the advanced stats and all thrown in.

It's also an overstatement that wasn't made and thus, a strawman.

If OKC had paid Harden instead of Ibaka they might well be the Golden State-like juggernaut given how the league has evolved.

Ibaka has definitely regressed, but makes more sense in a defined role for Toronto than he ever did for Orlando. The really bad Hennigan trade was the one he made to get Ibaka.

They didn't really have a choice but to accept the best offer.

Gimme Mcbuckets and a 1st for Jah.

Mcbuckets would be a nice fit here. Then move Ersan for a pick .

12.4 is a decent Defensive Rebound % for a Stretch 4. 11.4 is a horrible Defensive Rebound % for a Center.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

I don't care what player comes with the pick. As long as he's on a rookie contract.

This is what I was gonna say, so +1. CHI and NOP are all that's left.

Okafor, Pondexter, and Rodriguez to CHI
R. Lopez to NOP
Asik, Rondo (waived), McDermott, and unprotected 2018 NOP 1st to PHI

ibaka is also a positive defensive player according to DRPM while okafor is one of the worst front court guys. Can cherry pick stats to say anything.

But the point that ibaka had fallen off is a good one. I would be wary of committing to him long term.

Someone create a fake Twitter account and pump out some ridiculous Okafor rumors, the older ones are getting kind of lame and stale.

Literally swoop in. They will send a flock of pelicans to fly Okafor to New Orleans.

EDIT: It's called a "pod" of pelicans.

I wish people would stop posting Okafor trade rumors from people with only 655 twitter followers. I would like more credible people.
