Would be great to lock up the 3 seed in the next 3 games or so. In addition to resting Embiid, I’d pretty much rest the entire starting line up. JJ in particular responds really well to rest.

Locking up the fourth spot in the next three games will likely be a tall order with Embiid missing 2 out of 3 of them. Tonight will be a very difficult game to win. Towns will want to destroy the Sixers and while its a back to back he only played 30 minutes last night and the game was in Minnesota. We better be clicking on offense because we don't have an answer to Towns on defense. He is the type of big man that torches Boban and if we go to Jonah or Scott he'll destroy them inside.

So Embiid out for the entire road trip for load management purposes. Says there are not setbacks and concerns, and they're just being smart. If that's the case why are they saying they will reevaluate him for the Bucks game? Is it if Giannis will play lol?

I get they want to rest him for the playoffs but this won't do anything for his conditioning, and what happened to building team chemistry? Have we met our required quota?

This team did such a good job making something innocent much more dramatic and worrisome than it needs to be.

At this stage I'm concerned if he'll miss a game or two for the playoffs. If that happens we know something is definitely up.

So they are giving Joel 7 days off....

He looked pretty good on Thursday. Moving all over the place.

I just don’t get it. 3-4 extra days off is fine. Missing 2 games is rest.

But this is beyond rest.

He’s gonna to be rusty coming back. He gets deconditioned easily.

I also thinks he loses all nba first team cause he will have only played 62 games. He at most will play 65 games since the last game is back to back and he won’t play one of those games.

DPOY is less competition than all nba. And frankly less stringent voters standard.

That’s why Steph Curry didn’t get first team all nba last season. He only played in 51 games. Even though had a better season than lillard. They were close. But Steph had better season. But voters gave it to lillard cause he played 73-74 games.

Jokic will have played in 78-79 games when it’s all said and done vs embiid’s 64-65 games.

If there's no injury, I think this is great. I don't buy the "but he'll be rusty" argument. When Embiid stinks, it's usually because of fatigue, not too much rest.

He gets fatigued by losing conditioning.

More details about Jo and his rest. Guess playoffs won't be a concern. I'll buy that when we get there though. The fact that the reporters are wondering this too, gives me pause.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has some sort of cleanup procedure after the season on his knee. Resting him 3 games seems extreme, and if it's just rest then what are they "evaluating" after those 3 games exactly?

If you say so, my dude. He looked pretty good the first game back after his most recent load management respite.

I think its moreso that these games are all against "winnable" opponents.

Surely you saw him huffing and puffing that game. He even said that his conditioning was poor in an interview, and when he was in a full practice the day before he thought he would die (literal quote from Embiid).

I'm saying the two are related (you said he generally stinks during fatigue. He gets more fatigued when he hasn't played in a while). Yes his body heals and he has less aches and pains, but his ability to go full tilt on the basketball court takes some time when he comes back. There was another interview after he returned when someone asked how does he feel conditioning wise, and Ben was there. He asked for a number, and Jojo said 69% lol. So obviously that was a joke, but I also think he doesn't feel fully conditioned either.

Embiid doesn't have a good diet or elite genetics like Simmons to be in great shape and maintain low body fat, it is what it is. His priority in this offseason should be improve his diet.

I do agree with the diet part, but I completely disagree about elite genetics. How many 7'2 guys can do the things he does? He is in very elite territory with the level of athleticism he has as such a big human being. Just lol...

I meant genetics with his body type, not his talent. Genetics play a role in how easily one gains fat.

Embiid is not a fat player. I wouldn't say he's elite with body weight but he looks pretty cut to me. Conditioning is more of an issue.

So, looking at the bigger picture. What started as a load management, turned into Embiid being questionable for playoffs. Well, I thought that's why they were preserving him for.
It has now been 2 months since the all-star break (where it all started), and his knee is still sore all the time.

If I'm pessimistic, I think he picked up a meniscus injury that causes soreness, and he'll probably need to get another surgery in the summer to clean it up.

I’d say you’re more of a realist than a pessimist here. He can’t stay healthy regardless of how much load management he gets.
