Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
From today’s game it should give us a blueprint on how to structure the team moving forward:
Conley (Dragic/Hill/Lowry etc.)
O’Neale (Ben)
Bogi
Gobert (Embiid)
Mitchell (Oladipo/Derozan etc.)
Ingles
2 wings who can shoot, dribble, defend, pass/playmake. Or even 1 wing that’s like that multidimensional, 1 savvy guard, 1 combo guard that can penetrate the offense to score 20+ per game.
Our ceiling will be a lot higher due to Embiid/Simmons. But I’m saying multi tooled roleplayers that translate very well are such good pieces to any championship team. Caruso, Rondo etc etc.
For draft purposes I’d be looking at those types, things that translate well. PJ/Covington, they all have matured games/matured players and are psychically ready to go. Josh Hart/Ball would be right up our alley. Batum is another one.
PJ Washington has that type of skillset. I like these guys better than one dimensional players.
What’s unfortunate is our youngsters and the rest of the squad outside of Ben/Embiid is very much like that.
I’d welcome a Monte Morris type on the team for sure.

Joel for Stef or Dame or Harden then. (Probably never happen)
Unleash Ben as the Ultra mobile creative C.
Ben wont sustain his aggressiveness if the play is to get the ball to Joel. (Sad but a fact)

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
The moment we can get a decent return for Tobias we need to take it. We’ve seen what he looks like in the playoffs, no need to get our hopes up. Sell high and find ourselves a perimeter alpha scorer to take up his salary slot.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Doesn't that sentiment go double for Ben Simmons? Why are we still hanging onto him? We surely could pull an awesome return if we put Simmons on the open market.
Harris' salary is too high, but at least he's a strong on/off option that fits next to whatever team we put together for a championship run.

Furkan Korkmaz, Terrance Ferguson and Vincent Porier for Delon Wright. Add the 76ers' 2nd if necessary.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Harris has been booty in the Playoffs, he will never justify the contract in the end.
Whereas Ben is a monster waiting to happen
You know Ben is 24 right? any incremental growth is gravy train from here on out. His base has always been absurd 16/8/8/2 DPOY wing same goes for Embiid 24/11/2. Be patient with them. One has finally become a monster (was always going to be) and the other just needs a little more time (but that train started to chug late last year).

I’m fine with this line of thinking; I’m by no means a Tobias stan. I just don’t see a reason to offload him for bad players who have been headaches because his contract is a bit high for his production. Especially because of what he brings off the court and his durability. I know some will roll their eyes, but there is certainly an off court value that Tobias brings to this team as well.

Not only does Tobias become a better and better asset as his deal gets shorter, but he becomes a better and better asset as more ridiculous contracts get signed each offseason. Rudy Gobert is going to be making $47m in a few years.

True, barring injury.
Length of commitment is a huge factor, and sometimes even more important than the annual salary.
Minus Covid tanking league revenues, his salary might not look as terrible already.

Not the same at all. Ben has more value as a do-it-all 3rd star than Tobias does. Tobias has no place as a 2nd or 3rd star.
Ben has actually done will in his playoff appearances. He’s just not a go-to scorer, which we know and ought to accept because he can do everything else exceptionally well.
When Tobias gets taken out of the game offensively, he brings nothing else to the table imo.

Oli may not be perfect but I’m very hesitant to bleed assets when repivoting. He is that outside player we need fit and health permitting. (Derozan as well). Lavine/Beal may not be available at all. If they want Beal for Ben I’d say no and sit tight. Lavine has Markannen, though would Maxey + Milton entice them? (But ur still left with Harris’s contract).
Future years I can’t see many others that fit that description.
Walker? (Super inconsistent even in his hornets days).
Paul? (Not really the Suns are cooking).
Lillard/Booker no chance in hell even though Lillard would be nutty for us lol.
Lonzo has been brought up. These types will be high priority once the core three are in an ideal combination. 2/3 is a lot closer than most teams. Hopefully we get the third missing piece in due time. I like Harris fine player but don’t like his contract at all & his playstyle isn’t conducive to amplifying Embiid/Simmons. We need that rug to tie the room together

Thanks man. I think that’s a very thorough run-through of the other options who are probably unrealistic at this time.
Oladipo isn’t the player he once was, but I think he still has the halfcourt skillset that can be the difference between a 2nd round exit and ECF/Finals appearance. That’s not even mentioning his stellar defense.
The trade can also be laid out separately if Houston would be interested in Tobias for themselves.
Harris/Milton or Maxey for Oladipo/Gordon
Poirer/Korkmaz/2nd for Bjelica

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
To fully optimize both Ben & Embiid (I posted in Ben’s discussion but this is the way as they say lol)
We’ve had a bogus backcourt for pretty much their whole duration.
Two backcourt players that compliment each other will do wonders for both and full optimize they’re games completely.
They are both modernized front court players. Our margin for error is huge btw because Embiid is a top 5ish player currently & Ben could def be a top ten player sooner rather than later.
Traditional PG & SG that go together and a 3&D that plays 3&D and we’re good to go.
Ball/Lavine
Hill/Oladipo
Lowry/McCollum
Morris/Holiday
Vanvleet/ Derozan
Etc etc. it’s just a blueprint but the concept is right in front of us.
As long we get two that makes the backcourt function smoothly and compliment each other. I believe we’re fine.
That’s why I’m never high on shooters and shooters alone they are not dynamic enough/don’t have much else to bring to the table.
Fwiw we don’t need Harris as Ben is for sure a 4.
Traditional PG
Traditional SG
3&D
Simmons
Embiid
Curry as the 6th man
Stretch 4 (Bjelica type)
3&D (Thybulle if he comes together)
Rim running center (Holmes type)
Then we’re cooking with gas
If both Hill & Oladipo could be had at the right price I’d snap them up quick smart (Ball too).

I'm less concerned about positions and more about skill sets. Simmons' unique skill set gives you options positionally on how to build. He's a perimeter defender that play like a big in the half court and a PG in transition. The biggest hole is simple, a playmaking shooter. Don't care if that guy is a 1 or 2.

What about a playmaking defender?
Harris and Milton can both score on and off the ball. They're your playmaking shooters.
None of our defenders can create.
I think we desperately need a defensive player that can create off the dribble.
Which is where Delon Wright comes in.

When Shake is "on", I think he's exactly what this team needs. He's just not consistent enough (yet?).
I think Delon would help the bench. Certainly an improvement on Maxey.
