SixthStreet wrote:Tin foil hat theory: Morey isn't even trying to trade Simmons. Maybe he thinks that Simmons sitting out the entire year and forfeiting all the money isn't a plausible outcome and that after the trade deadline Simmons will show up and play as there's no movement until the offseason. That raises championship equity this year (probably moreso than any realistic trade out there before the deadline) and then in the offseason he's used in a S&T for ideally Harden, but there could be other irons in the fire.

If it gets that far then he can't come back. Any bridge he had left with teammates would be burnt and he'd throw any chemistry we have developed (presuming we can stay healthy for more than 2 games) out the window.

OMG! We're never going to trade him! This has been almost 6 months of torture at this point. We've got to move on at some point. I know Morey has dug in as far as what he wants in return, but what if other teams simply just do not want Ben Simmons? I mean, who would want a player that is getting paid max dollars that you can't put on the floor in the fourth quarter due to him not being able to hit a free throw?

Then he rots. I am fine with watching Simmons light his money on fire. Watching him force his way out to a good team for a **** return would be 100x worse

Once again, every pick and swap must be on the table for this to be considered if Towns and Edwards are off the table. And there'd have to be a third team.

Sixers: SGA/TJ Warren (understand he is hurt, but in last year and us against cap so getting him now to be have option to resign within hard cap or do sign n trade even if for a 2nd rnd pick and creating trade exception)
Pacers: Russell & Picks or Swaps (Philly/Minnesota)
Minnesota: Simmons
OKC: Turner/Levert/Thybulle & remainder of Minnesota picks/swaps.

You send Simmons as far away from Philly as possible as the last person you want to play against is someone with a grudge

I think Joel will have bigger motivation to crush Simmons each and every time they play than just some grudge. Simmons you want to be a small ball center. Say hello to Joel Embiid. I think you two know each other.

Simmons is waaay too fast for Joel

Remember what he did to Gobert?

The guy is just enough of a psycho to do a number on us for years

Or he might never play again

Stupid to take the risk of trading him to a conference rival

Don't have to be fast, Joel will just stand at the basket with his smirk and wait for Ben to fall to the floor, curl in the fetal position and cry about people not being nice to him and how unfair it is that he is expected to perform against Joel.

Then we just live with the 'torture' while Simmons watches his career slowly disintegrate. The worst possible outcome is Morey caving and accepting garbage just to relieve us of this terrible burden we have to somehow suffer through. I'm just fine letting this play out until someone blinks - someone will blink, and it isn't going to be Morey.

The last time I had fun watching was the Dario years or the year we moved Dario for Jimmy. I can attest from a season ticket holder standpoint, I was able to still sell tickets at face value or above when we weren't good or had any expectations. This year I've had a lot of family med issues and haven't been able to go and I can't even give them away for $20 bucks a seat against teams like the Jazz for Christ's sake. Sadly I'll probably be handing in my season tix unless a major move is made to inject some life into the team.

But maybe only one or two of them are top 25 players in the NBA.

I feel like it’s gotta be SGA given the timing of all this. SGA can be trade Dec 15 given his new extension and there have been some whispers circulating that the Sixers are interested. They could potentially be the 3rd team that Minny has been looking for to complete a deal or maybe the deal ends up being structured differently.

No idea why OKC would want even more picks and project players tho.

SGA isn't on their time line honestly. Other than him and Dort, they have taken massive project players (Poku) who aren't close to being ready. Even if they landed Banchero they are still 2 more years away at least especially looking at the Warriors/Suns teams.

Why would OKC trade Shai? He’s like the perfect prototype as a young star.

He's 23 which equals post-apex on Sam Presti's timeline.

KATKlownFeet wrote:[streamable][/streamable]Here's a three way trade idea: Simmons to Minnesota, Russell to Nets and Kyrie and Minnesota 1st Rounder to Philly.

Also, a four way deal with Simmons to Minnesota, Russell to Nets, Kyrie to Miami and Lowry and Heat 1st Rounder and Minnesota 1st Rounder to Philly.

With both scenarios, there could be some picks and players added to balance the trade but those would be the main pieces. I'm also thinking that the team that gets Kyrie may want to get some commitment from Kyrie to an extension before signing off on the trade.

No one wants Kyrie. Dude has proven he'll burn any team (even the one he swore he wanted to build a superteam with) for his own personal reasons.

I get the feeling that getting SGA in a Simmons trade is equivalent to Presti and Morey trading queens while playing 4d chess. That's if it's true (as people believe) that Simmons is Morey's last big trade chip. Well outside of SGA (minus picks?!?) then I guess Presti is in a similar boat. So IF we get SGA, he won't be the final piece, neither Simmons for OKC.

SGA is not a 1A elite player (at least not yet), but he is an absolutely elite 1B player as we saw the year he had CP3 and to some degree last year. Presit literally had to tear down and trade away every solid NBA lvl player just to make sure his tank worked (think Hinkie finally trading away every PG to ensure we couldn't win games in his final year here).

You put SGA next to a 1A option and he will shine.

I think my biggest fear is the Celtics figuring out a way to get Turner. Not sure how they do it cap wise, maybe move Smart or if they have a trade exception, but Turner to the Celtics would be bad news for the East.

If Morey pulled that off, I’d accuse him of bullying Presti at this point.

It’s just a bat signal to the suitors to pry SGA from OKC and then it can happen. Primarily a message to Minnesota. I doubt it happens but weird there’s all this SGA chatter recently.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Shai is quietly asking out of OKC. It’s gotta suck to be that young and talented while rotting away in Oklahoma lol. Presti has made a show of doing right by players & agents so if Shai wants out I think he would find a way to make it happen.

I have to imagine at some point the fans in OKC start to revolt a bit during this rebuild tho.

ESPN trade machine says Shai can't be traded until June 29th. Can anyone verify that?
