Is that possible if PG doesn't want to be here? I seriously doubt Ballmer would trade him to a place he doesn't want to be. Doesn't usually happen like that in the NBA.
Bridges requested a trade to the Knicks. If he requesed a trade to the Sixers, he'd be a Sixer.
There has been no report that PG13 does not want to come here. He is reported as wanting a max deal. We will give it to him.
If he opts out and does a S&T Ballmer would send him here before GS. If he opts in to allow a trade to happen, again we win out over GS from an asset standpoint.
Of Course there is no report he doesnt want to come here. His camp needs to leave the Sixers out here as a possible outright signing as leverage to force LAC to agree to trade him where he wants.
PG13 has no leverage in that situation. If he opts out GSW can't sign him. So the threat of an opt in means nothing.

If you want to lose a fan base, this is the perfect way to do so. On one had, you can argue that the Celtics have one more year with the super team, then it's wide open in the East. But it's a bit hard to swallow after doing the entire process, suffering through multiple FO regimes as they completely burned Embiid's prime, then be asked to be patient again with a tabula rasa roster consisting of two all star talents, a bunch of picks and an assload of cap space? If we have essentially a remake of last year's roster going into next season, Morey should be fired.
To me, the underrated problem with this is what it would say about this past season. Morey traded Harden for a bunch of expiring guys and didn't make any big moves at the deadline last year, precisely to have max cap space now. We then lost to the Knicks with the series point spread in the single digits. The next round, the Knicks were hurt or they looked like they would have beaten the Pacers and Boston wouldn't have had Porzingis in the ECF. My point being, it wouldn't have taken that much in the way of upgrades for the Sixers to have had a chance last year at the first ECF of the Embiid era. Punting on last year to get a good haul now would likely be worth it, but to punt on last year and then have to punt on another one.... Not good.

Build a good team this offseason and make incremental improvements from here. This has to be the year where we build a solid foundation for the next 3-4 years.
It wouldn't be punting next year. He'd look to trade everything for the next start who wants out, which is very likely to happen. Someone like Durant.
He will sign guys to one year deals and/or trade for neutral/bad contracts with one year left.
I don't love it but I never understand some of the names that were thrown around in here like Demar Derozan.

Guys are going to sign here on 1 year deals knowing they are likely to be traded at the deadline? I guess if you overpay.

I don't think you can convince me that someone currently projected in the top 5 is going to be the best player in this draft.

The Sixers are never going to have more trade assets than teams like the Nets, Thunder, Rockets, and others, so amassing assets for the outside chance a star might become available when you're going to be several teams down in the pecking order who have a chance to trade for that star is certainly a decision.

Let's remember this people. Acquiring three big names and having a dollar store cast supporting them is far from a sure strategy. Hence KD possibly leaving that very scenario after 1 season.

I never liked the cap space plan, mostly because I don't think $60M + MLE is enough resources to fill out nearly an entire roster. Especially if you're paying one person $50M of it. I'd hoped he would trade some of our expirings at the last trade deadline to bring in some longer term players. That said, I'm content to see what he actually does with this freedom before calling it a failure; I'll even grudgingly give him until the trade deadline. But that's it for my patience.

If Morey punts another year Embiid should be using the Olympics to find his next team.

I agree but if you think Zach Edey is generational or that Donovan Clingan is a perfect fit, then you probably think there’s a few other teams thinking the same way. I think teams trading for top 5 picks tonight are not going to use it on someone projected to be in the top five if that makes sense.

I still think going for Brogdon and Jerami Grant for a future pick is the way to go if we cannot just sign PG or OG. We can't trade all of our assets AND then give a max deal to a player.

Houston can offer the Suns their picks back. That plus any other pick they have easily beats anything we have

Yes, let’s sit around forever waiting for a star that *might* become available in the future. We’ve gotta start making calculated bets (Ingram is a possible example) instead of waiting for the perfect star to fall into our lap.

Houston wants Booker not KD, according to the tweet I shared. If not you go get Booker or Lauri. Still a few players we could trade for.

Lol stop. We aren't getting these guys. It doesn't sound as though Phoenix even wants to trade either one right now (certainly not both), but if they did, other teams can outbid us (non-all star Mikal Bridges just cost 5 first rounders). Maybe we could offer everything we have for Lauri, but I'm still skeptical that would be enough (why wouldn't OKC or the Spurs just outbid us with their millions of picks).

You cannot just wait forever.
Give up on the 3rd star, Morey, you ****** that up, it's over.
Go and find diamonds in the rough. Go and get role players who help Jo and Maxey succeed.
If they're punting again, they should just be trading Embiid and starting over.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
The problem with Anunoby is that he's going to want an expanded role on offense and he just stinks at creating. So you're going to pay him All Star money and he's either going to be horribly inefficient on offense taking possessions away from Maxey and Embiid or he's going to just continue to be a 3&D guy.
If he goes cold in the playoffs from outside, we're still in the same position. I mean, Tobias was a decent defender for us and made no real impact for us on offense.
