I don't understand why the Sixers were offering partial MLE cntracts to Watson and Warrick but now sign Ivey when there are still decent young partial MLE type players. Someone like Wafer, McCants, or Head would have been much better than a player like Ivey who is probably less offensively talented than Jrue at this point and might be the same defensively.

I think Jordan wants a player like Brezec signed. He is decent offensively and probably could do better in the Princeton Offense than just a big body like Foyle, but I would rather just get Foyle to back up Sam and just play Speights more. All we can hope for this year is good progression for the young guys and maybe a trade next year if their value is high.

I think it has to do with the fact that Ivey still has an apartment in Center City, so the Sixers won't have to pay any kind of relocation allowance or temporary housing.

Rumors that the season ticket lines have already started forming down there after this unexpected signing.

tmoore wrote:Are you ready for Primoz Brezec? Told European report that Sixers are close to signing him may be correct. My source said talks are “advancing,” but nothing is definite.

Brezec, who is 7-1, played in Italy last year after spending seven years in NBA, averaging 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds. He's from Slovenia.

This reminds me that Rentzias might still be available. He could be our other shooter. Go get him Ed.

I hope Sessions just signs somewhere already. The fact that the Sixers are so fixated on next year's tax to go sign the guy is killing me.

He's a 23 year old pg who can score, actually play the point and also play SG. He would be great in the P.O. sort of like Miller he does not shoot 3's, but you can't ignore his game just because he lacks range at age 23.

His career PER is 17.4, and per 36 min stats: 16 pts, 7.5 asst to 2.5 to's, 4.5 reb. he has had a triple double, 44pt and 24 asst games in just over 1 full NBA season...

If the Bucks truly won't go over 3M for this guy someone will get an absolute steal. He's much better for this team than lou, and would at very least be an great player to mix in off the bench as a combo guard.

i was not bothered earlier because I assumed the Bucks would match offers for him. But to watch a good young player be out there, who fills a need cheaply, is frustrating.

Exactly. In fact I would move Lou somewhere in a second for a draft pick it would clear room for Sessions, and at the MLE he is truly a steal. The team would be better in the short and long term and would not be nearly as dependent on Holiday developing faster than expected.

I'd do that too, Skates. We're going to regret passing on Sessions.

sessions want multi year and we wont do that. they want jrue starting within two years but hopefully by next year.

finally heard from my buddy today. Carney is our #1 SF interest.

Other guys being considered are Udoka, Kurz, Cartier Martin and Desmond Mason

Well, 2 of my guys are on that list in Carney and Udoka.

SF, does the Ivey signing completely rule out any possibility of adding CJ Watson?

yup

We are reportedly set at guard...cuz they think Iguodala and Kapono can play there too(well Andre will start at SG of course....i think the SF they sign may be able to play SG too at times.

was told ...remember Jared Jeffries used to start at the 2 for Eddie Jordan in Washington. He was really a SF.

Set, huh? I actually liked bringing Ivey back as a reserve guard, but hardly looked at the guards as set in any way. I suppose this could be mitigated some if Jordan is actually considering Iguodala as the starting SG though. I would be happy if they brought back Carney too. Not exactly the type of stuff parades are made of, but I'd take him.

As for Jeffries, I do remember when he was the starting 2 guard and there is a reason why they let him go to the Knicks shortly thereafter. It wasn't as though this was a good idea, but probably the best alternative Jordan had. Sound familiar?

Lou/Jrue/Ivey
Iguodala/Green
Thad/Kapono/SF
Brand/Speights
Dalembert/Smith/Brezec

yeah set....once they add another SG/SF guy. they think they have a bunch of interchangeables.

Ivey can play 1 or 2
lou can play 1 or 2
andre 2 or 3
thad 3 or 4
kapono 2 or 3
SF they sign..probably some SG as well

so yeah....as tom said..they may just go with 13 guys.....

...fixed

Heck, yoou can play Lou at center... doesn't mean it helps the team.

Add a player that increases the talent level and skill of the team. Versatility can hide only so many warts.

They need a shooter who can actually play (Kapono can shoot but is an all NBA bad defender.)

They need an actual PG. I mean even one would be an improvement.

Players are available for bargains. Worst case scenario the team dump[s salary or pays a few mil of tax (but only for one season in 2010/11, since the next year a ton expires off the cap.)

If you are send out a completely crippled backcourt out of fear of paying tax 2 years from now it shows they have resigned themselves to being losers.

God that Ivey signing gets to me. We would have been much better served going with someone else. I just can't see the logic in signing Ivey when his skill set is redundant with Holiday in the lineup.

What exactly does Ivey bring AT ALL? I sometimes wonder if Stefanski truly watched the games. What happened was, after we subbed out our starters we would have these world beaters(Just joking) come out on the floor and just like that: Lose the lead.

Royal Ivey deserves 0 PT. Jrue Holiday already brings the defense he does at the 1. And it seems he can be the spot up shooter Ivey was last year.

Royal Ivey would be stealing Jrue's minutes!

Imma find Ed Snider and ask him to appoint me as SixersGM. He doesn't care anyway but I do care about the team.

Except Iggy's 10 X the player Jeffries ever was. Jefferies, when healthy is a solid roleplayer.

tk76 wrote:If Lou is starting who is our scoring guard off the bench? WG... not good. Green is a decent bench player but is not a go to scorer. Ivey even less so.

We need some semblance of scoring from the bench. Luther Head would be fine... Ivey is not that guy. Even if Speights is a main bench scorer, who runs the pick and pop with him? Not Ivy or Green.

To start last year the team was absolutely destroyed by the bench. The starters would get a lead and then the 2nd quarter nobody would even score for the first 6 minutes. I hope they get some type of bench scorer, even if it means taking Lou out of the starting line-up.

What's going on TK! Your right , if Lou is our starting point guard, then which guard is going to provide scoring off the bench? It's a major problem to be solved in the Twilight Zone. Thanks ED!

Tom, you might as well take you sabattical, since Ed has nothing planned. If you come back in a week things will look the same. Ed is like a GM in handcuffs without big cash in his hands. He thought he was going to come here and strike it rich, but instead he created a major car crash. Thanks Ed STINKFANSKI! :D
