Of course there’s still work to be done on the roster, but if they can add a starting 2 guard and a backup C we’ll be just fine. We already have a very good spark scorer off the bench...JJ. Just gotta find the starter and that wasn’t coming from this draft regardless.

Thats a much improved bench from what we had last year and that’s just using the MLE. There’s still the possibility of keeping Ennis and/or adding vet minimum guys.
I like how you keep ignoring the fact that people aren't mad about this year but rather the continual misuse of assets.
Yeah its the second round but good teams tend to get good players ...yknow in the second **** round.
The last 3 offseasons we all went "oh well, we'll just get the bench in FA"...only to not get the **** bench in FA and be looking for crumbs in the buyout market, then hit the post season and find out those crumbs aren't playable. I didn't expect any of the 2nd rounders to be useful this year BUT to have young cheap talent to either pawn off or develop when we won't have much money to spend is something great teams do. And the upside is damn sure better than hoping Corey Brewer can save your season.
also that bench sucks ass unless Zhaire takes a major leap.
Also also..these dreams of getting a solid bigman to play 12 minutes is a **** pipe dream. Dedmon will probably find a starting gig. Lopez will find more consistant minutes and we will be back on Greg Monroe island. If KD or Kawhii stay home, there is going to be a lot of teams pivoting to stocking up on dudes instead of just one guy...and we won't be the most attractive team due to lacking funds. God forbid if one of our dudes bail too.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft
Brand's comments make me feel like we're going to start dumping 1st rounders at the deadline in the coming years. Get ready for David Griffin-era Cavs trades. Channing Frye and Kyle Korver for 1sts type transactions. This team is gonna bottom out so hard.

Kinda sad that Shake might be our most promising draft pick since Ben Simmons in terms of star upside.

He's not, renewed his contract at Anadolu Efes.
No way that you're getting Derrick Rose (ugh, wouldn't want a person like him on the Sixers anyway), Taj Gibson, Shake Milton and Thomas Bryant Jr. with our available exceptions.
Bryant Jr. is a RFA btw. No reason why the Wizards let him go without a massive overpay.

Neither one of them are going to be anything significant in the NBA.
I've got a funny feeling that Carsen Edwards is gonna be a guy that drops 40 on us but sucks against every other team.
Maybe. He'll be the next Shane Larkin.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft
This draft seemed chock full of decent role players. I'll admit it's a bit discouraging to not have cheap young talent to round out the bench. I'll just have to take solace in the fact that the percentages tell me that most of these players won't pan out. It's easy to get wrapped up in the draft hype but then you realize most of these players won't be viable NBA players and those that are probably won't make anything of themselves until they reach their 2nd contracts.

There’s only 2 options for C? Not even close.
And you’re delusional about what a bench actually needs to be. Come playoff time the rotation needs to be 8, max 9, guys. If we have JJ, 2 young wing defenders and a backup C that’s more than enough.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft
I’m hoping that Thybulle’s defense translates. He’s going to enjoy that extra foul he gets in the NBA. I imagine a lot of the perimeter/midrange blocks he got will be called fouls in the NBA, unfortunately due to flopping. He’ll play the passing lanes well, but won’t have a zone to cover up his gambles. I don’t know what type of one on one defense he plays since they were perpetually in zone.

who are we going to get to start in JJ's place?
who are we going to get to willingly play like 12 minutes a night in the playoffs behind JoJo?
I am sorry but this same song and dance after every draft has bit us in the **** ass every single time. Juwan Evan is probably trash but damn we could have used a body at PG that year. We sure could have used Sterling Brown last year. Its small in the moment but has been a potential answer to the continual issues we have had...not to mention would be a nice buffer against injury. JJ is 36 years old. Jimmy and JoJo will miss games next year. Its not about expecting 2nd rounders to come in a play ( although it happens every year despite "lol dey only second rounders who caaaaahs"); its about the simple fact that we won't have much cap space or tradable assets in case of emergency. This idea that 11-15 doesn't matter is exactly how losing one guy leaves you ass out. yes in a perfect world, we only need 8 players....but this is the Philadelphia 76ers my guy....aint **** pefect about this team. And to keep getting caught w/ your dick in your hands year after year is silly.
but hey I can't wait for this years Corey Brewer or hoping we get lucky in the buyout market again...only to be like "man if only we had a back up blank...then we would win" ....again

Re: 2019 NBA Draft
Can someone explain Brand's comment "I need every dollar I can get"?
Trading up to #20 cost us around 400k, about the same what waiving Jonathan Simmons would cost us. How did they save any money for FA?
Also regarding the "youth movement, I don't see that team win a championship". Didn't you just see the Raptors win it all with important roles for Pascal Siakam (#27, 2016), Fred VanVleet (undrafted, 2016) and Norman Powell (#46, 2015). (edit: Also traded Gasol for Delon Wright (#20, 2015).
If you don't draft these guys you cannot retain them for team-friendly deals.
The more I listen to his press conference, the more I get worried. He really loves to emphasize he initiated that call, as if the Celtics didn't suspect he would desperately try to get him.

Player experience in the NBA as a GM is really important, as you can see with James Jones and Elton Brand. Gersson Rosas (who traded 1 year of cheap Saric and Johnson for Culver) on the other hand is a nerd without the personality to handle the league.

It’s hilarious how every year this team drafts players that people actually get excited for and then they trade them away five minutes later. Every single time it happens.

Yes because it's only Elton In the war room right? And i'd take having the best starting five In the league and adding a piece they wanted over appeasing a bunch of forum gm's by picking players they don't see value In thank you very much.

Wait, it’s a “pipe dream” that a vet would want to go to a team with championship aspirations? What are you even talking about?
O’Quinn, Kanter, Looney, McGee, Koufus, Lopez, Vonleh, Ed Davis, etc....
We are talking about 12 mins and load management spot starts right?
Lamb, Beverly, KCP, Green, Ross, Hood, Curry, etc...
Again, we are talking about a 20-25 min a night 5th scoring option role player. Someone that can play better D than JJ (not difficult to do) and hit open 3’s.
You can whine about depth all you want, but the NBA is won by having the best players on the court in crunch time. Sure the Raptors have good depth and made good picks, but they weren’t crap until they traded for arguably the best player in the league. And won’t be crap again if Kawhi leaves, regardless of how much depth and good 2nd round picks they made
