All 10 guys -- prior to Ivey and Brezec -- are also guaranteed for 2010-11, when the cap and tax are headed down again. Stefanski wants to have some flexibility then by not locking more guys in. What if some of the mid-level free agent "Class of 2010" can't get the deals they want? Could the Sixers get somebody with the MLE? They'll have Dalembert, Green and Kapono off the cap in 2011, but will have to extend Young for a significant raise then, too.
Overpaying to keep players has been going on since Larry Brown (Mutombo, Kukoc), with King (Snow, Dalembert) and Stefanski (Iguodala, Williams) keeping it going.
