W-what?

He didn't say what they're offering. A lot of teams have 2nd round picks to burn.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

It's amazing to me that a team with Anthony Davis can have such apathetic fans.

That tells me that the Pelicans should move to another city.

This is the worst post I've ever seen on any message board forum in my entire life.

You seriously think that the amount of fans on RealGM represent the actual fanbase as a whole? Why don't you go on the Spurs board and see the lack of activity there as well?

You realize that not every fan cares about RealGM or makes an account here right?

Pelicans have their own forum called Pelicans Report in which many of their fans post at. Spurs also have their own forum called Spurs Talk in which many of their fans post at.

And then there are fans who don't really care about online forums at all. In this day and age, there's social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Reddit etc for this.

What an absolute ridiculous thing to say that New Orleans doesn't deserve a team because the Pelicans RealGM forum is dead. You know that there's a world outside RealGM right?

I won't do it but I would bet my life that if we checked game attendance rankings, New Orleans is definitely ahead of Philadelphia in the past 10 years. So I guess that means Philadelphia doesn't deserve a team either right? Move the 76ers to Seattle then?

My goodness, I still can't get over how bad of a post this is.

Uh, hit a nerve I guess?

There are other Sixers boards as well, but for whatever reason your board is just chirping crickets.

It is an indicator of lack of enthusiasm. Even on a day like today when there is actual news, you would think that there would be a few fans kicking it around.

Hope it's a lightly protected lotto.

Been proposing an Okafor to Pels deal. Just didn't think it's just a small deal haha

I think taking back Ajinca is no biggie at all, but the first round pick has to be pretty lightly protected for this to make sense, at least at this point a few weeks away from the deadline.

Ok, protect the pick for the top 14 for this season, but next year it should be like top 8 protected, maybe top 10. There has to be some upside for us or we might as well just keep him.

Would the Pelicans give up Jrue as incentive for us to take on Asik's deal?

Trading a current asset for Jrue wouldnt make sense right now when we could sign him out right in the offseason if he really wants to be here. But if we dont really have to give up anything of value and can get Jrue, by taking on Asik, id be 100% for it.

I doubt we would do that. You lose a ton of flexibility because you'll have to max or near max Jrue. Asik (even though he's better than Olajuwon on an ideal championship team) is totally worthless and his contract an albatross. I can't see BC handicapping himself like that.

I wouldn't. The only way I'm taking on Asik deal is multiple first rounders. If they want Okafor fine we are probably talking multiple first rounders with some pick swaps included. I wouldn't know how to even formulate the offer considering the amount of money we'd be saving the Pelicans. Probably close to 60 million. Consider Okafor contract and Asik. I'd probably want at least two first rounders and two pick swaps. With the first rounders being very lightly protected if at all

A straight up Okafor trade is simple their 2017 first round pick top three protected. Considering how bunched the standings are there needs to be some upside for us. They could still make the playoffs. They are only 3.5 games back from 8th.

Would you guys do this??
NO can still have a 1st this year, I would do a option for pick swap for Sixers. If Philly uses option for pick swap this year then it becomes lottery protected for 2018 and 2019 if not then 2 2nds in 2020.

Sixers in: 2017 pick swap option, if option is used in 2017 lottery protected 1st in 2018 or 2019 or 2020 2 2nds and Ajinca.
If option is not used top 5 protected in 2018 or 2019 or 2 2nds in 2020

NO in: Okafor

I would rather burn a first round pick (the literal pick, not player unless the player is Okafor) than trade it for Okafor. Obviously we should hold out for the best deal possible but if we can get any first round pick back I'm happy.

I don't understand the notion of taking on extra dead salary (like Asik) in order to get Jrue. Why not wait 4 months and put that money that would be wasted on the dead salary and give it to Jrue in FA if that is the G they want? Pay him an extra 6M a year instead of taking on an extra 5-10M a year of dead weight.

I do see the value of taking on a bad contract if it means getting a pick with less protection.

That is an absolutely ridiculous expectation.

Our upside is getting rid of Jahlil Okafor.

Get this over with. Pursuing Jrue in the trade is stupid when you can sign him out right in the offseason.

Ajinca and 2017 top 10 protected - 2018 top 5 protected or 2019 Unprotected. Keep it moving.

I think Ajinca is a capable enough back up center to move Noel for a wing guard upgrade or a decent lottery pick at deadline.

Agree. Not need to dilute value for a RFA, even if I really like the player.

Agree with using the scrub center to replace Noel too. This is clearly not the same Nerlens we saw his rookie year when he thought the franchise was building around he and Embiid. Another cautionary tale for 'BPA'.....you gotta decide quick when you pick guys who play the same spot...their hunger, performance and trade value only maintain for a certain period then it's dust.

If the Pels were willing to do that trade it would probably be done by now.

I agree that the Jrue stuff doesn't make sense, so I'm assuming it isn't true.

Creative approach, I would easily do this kind of deal, but I doubt that the Pelicans would.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
