Ben Simmons and Zhaire are going to have some deep locker-room discussions on metaphysics, without doubt.

It's silly to deny the value of general intelligence in performance, particularly in today's game.

you guys are too tough on this kid. He has Donovan Mitchell type upside with better defense right now.
I like him a lot. I liked Mikal more but like Brett said, the Sixers are star hunting. And they needed an asset.
And man did they get one. Miami is going to be terrible in 2021. That MCW pick keeps on giving. If this helps get us Kawhi and
then Lebron who GAF if we traded Mikal ?

You're solely referring to his vertical leap, right?

It's silly to deny the value of general intelligence in performance, particularly in today's game. Your reliance on hyperbole won't overcome that.

You're right in both instances, but there is a difference between being able to read big words and know what they mean and read an NBA floor, else, as I've already intimated, book-stupid Ben Simmons would be a Harvard graduate and have Mensa membership given how intelligent he is on an NBA floor.

For all Mo Bamba's apparent intelligence out of the gym he's pretty average in that regard in it, and Jaren Jackson makes him look down-right thick as a defender.

His physical tools are crazy, he will be a great dunker and defender. His handle is improving, and his shot, albeit slow, seems to have goood mechanics. He seems really focused, aparently loves to train. I think he´s a hard worker, if he can develop his shot he can be an all star.

Good article. Seems like a good kid with a great work ethic. We at least know he will put the time and effort in to get better. Whether he ever gets there who knows, but it won't be for lack of trying.

I never said he had to be book-smart or that athletic performance and IQ are directly correlated. Stephen Hawking (RIP) was not dunking on fools on the playground.

I'm sure general intelligence has some value but the lack of it hasn't hurt the chronically thick flat-Earther Kyrie.

Talking of which, battle of wheelchairs, who you got in a discussion on the Earth's lack of roundness? Hawking or Uncle Drew?

I think he's just a bit socially awkward ala Andre Miller.

Brett just brought up Kawhi again as a comparison for Zhaire

Articulation does not have any correlation with intelligence or IQ. Some of the most intelligent people to ever walk the earth were socially awkward with difficulty expressing themselves to large audiences.

As long as the kid shows good court awareness and understanding, then he can be mute for all I care.

No. I'm referring to that he earned minutes on a GOOD team, shot 45% from 3(small sample size but still) , gets assists and doesn't turn the ball over.

Those are all reasons why he can be a nice role player.

Articulation is a sign of intelligence, but lack of articulation isn’t a sign of lack of intelligence.

Yeah, articulation doesn't really mean much. One of the dumbest dudes I know, my brother-in-law, sounds like he's intelligent.

He's dumb as rocks, matter of fact, that is an insult to rocks.

I think Uncle Drew wins after he pulls out the artist's rendering of the Ice Wall. Robert Williams apparently was convinced months ago...:

I actually don't believe that there's no correlation between articulation and intelligence, I just don't think it's strong enough to make a judgement on any given individual. Besides, scouting reports say that Zhaire is a very smart player. Brett did too.

Also, most 19 year olds sounds like idiots in front of a microphone. When I was 19 I was in broadcasting school with other 19 year olds. We all sounded like idiots all the time.

big dumb dumb

Last I checked JR Smith has a ring.

Anyway he may just be a bad public speaker he's a teenager.

Also, dude was also a three-star nobody recruit coming out of HS. He hasn't had the years in the spotlight doing interviews at all of these big-time camps that alot of these other guys have had.

Speaking of H.S., apparently he played center at his. He's come a long way in just a year.

The shot isn't really a huge problem. It's got a passable amount of projectability. It's the lack of handle and creation ability that capsizes his upside.

Can we let the kid play before we determine what he'll be one way or another? No need to label him a role player or crown him either. Let's just see what he can do with NBA coaching and a good summer.
