It's a shame that a team like the Bulls got a new FO. If someone like LaMelo falls to them, I could have seen the old FO dumbasses trying to turn Coby White into a vet wing...like Josh Richardson.

Too many semi-competent GMs nowadays. I miss Billy King.

Who's giving attractive assets and cap relief for Horford and Harris?

The teams who would kill just to make the playoffs. Teams who can’t get a superstar so they settle for multiple Tobias Harris type players.

Bobcats? Kings? Suns? Pacers? Wizards? Detroit? Knicks? Bulls? Grizzlies? Blazers?

Most of these teams already accept that they wont be able to use their cap to attract a top tier FA anyway, so for them cap doesnt matter much.

Then you factor in how weak this draft is.

It seems like wildly optimistic thinking to me that you're getting assets for either guy. All reports are that it is going to cost us a ton to get off those contracts.

Whose report? Most of these “reports” are speculations by similarly armchair GMs like us.

In reality most of these teams are not really looking to win the title. Most of them just want to make the playoffs while the cap space are mostly used for role players like Bjelica.

Like for instance Wizards would sell more tickets and could be a better playoff team with Al Horford than whatever that 9th pick can fetch them in this year’s weak draft. Much more can be said with a guy like Tobi.

Then if you can package that 9th pick and Tobi for another of this weak preys, you possibly can move up again.

Like if you look at the Magic. They’re a playoff team lead by Vuc. Vuc is on the same tier as guys like Tobi and Al.

Hornets? Rozier is their best player and Tobi and Al could be above his tier.

Not every team is looking to win a championship and plans to land Giannis with their cap space. That’s the reality of the league. And that’s one way to take advantage of the system

Will check it later. It could only be his opinion or just a small sample size of data. Unless he went around asking every executive in the league for their opinion. And even then, you wouldn’t really know if your survey would be true. They could just be bluffing so they can buy low.

There are teams in the league where having a franchise player like Al or Tobi is as good as it gets for them. That’s just the reality. That’s why there is only a handful of teams who have won a championship in the league while most teams would be happy just to make the playoffs and have more than 1 Al or Tobi caliber guy on their team.

He said he talked to like 20 executives.

Clippers trade: Beverley, LouWill, Zubac
Clippers receive: Bledsoe, Brook Lopez, #34

Clippers get more of a point guard and a lineup of Bledsoe, PG13, Kawhi, Morris, and Lopez has plenty of defense and spacing. I think I saw that there was friction between Beverley and LouWill with how Kawhi was treated so this removes that issue as well.

Sixers trade: Richardson, Mike Scott, and Zhaire Smith, #34
Sixers receive: Beverley and George Hill

Sixers add more shooting, ballhandling and defense. I would start Beverley, Hill, Simmons, Harris, Embiid and then use Hill to run the backup unit with Milton at SG.

Thunder out: Paul
Thunder in: Richardson, LouWill, Ilyasova, DJ Wilson, Scott, Smith

OKC moves Paul to a contender while getting expirings and Richardson and LouWill, each of whom I think could be flipped for a 1st if OKC didn't want to keep them.

Bucks in: Paul, Zubac
Bucks out: Bledsoe, Lopez, Hill, Ilyasova, Wilson

Bucks add another top-20 player in Paul at the cost of some depth.

Hey Bully I was thinking we could get even better return for Richardson. IMO if those on this board are not inclined to trade Embiid or Simmons, then Richardson really is our best trade asset because of the combination of his basketball value (good player, natural position replacement in a trade) and the team friendly contract he's on. His money along with Scott's expiring and change gets us up near 20M in matching. Could be some much better options in that price range (like Oladipo, et al)

Beverly and Hill improve us but are not enough of a game changer to get us to true contender status. Frankly i think Morey wants to make a much bigger splash. Much bigger. On this point, I hope I'm right

Don't understand this. Chris Paul is likely the most impactful player we could get while still keeping Ben + Jo. He's also a perfect fit w/those guys, one of very few guys who is. And he's likely to cost less than other guys people are talking about like Jrue or Beal.

I'm more hopeful than ever that we can get CP3.

It's because the window would be so short (~2 years?) and there's a good chance he'll get injured at a critical time based on history. Having a longer championship window ought to be attainable with Morey now.

CP3 at least gives you a window, and you'd have the chance to find/develop another playmaker during that time. It's not like the wheels completely fall off a team with a prime Embiid and Simmons 2 years from now because you no longer have Paul.

I guess it depends on what we have to give up. #21? Matisse? Shake? I worry about giving up assets for a 36-year-old PG with a significant injury history during critical moments. All of our championship aspirations would hinge on his health too. He's probably a bit overvalued right now as well, given all the negatives traits attached to him. I'd personally rather target Holiday or Oladipo.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/Simons/Philon Jr.
Edgecombe/KCP
Brown/Wade/Edwards
LeBron/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Hukporti/Bona

Imagine LMA’s reaction after knowing Neil Olshley trades for him.

I heard LMA had been openly talking about ending his career back in POR.

I think those guys cost more assets, give you less opportunity to win now, and carry more risk with their next contract. That said, I'm not against targeting them as well.

I'm not overly attached to Thybulle, Shake or #21 in the context of acquiring any of those guys.

He was a stud a few years ago when the Wiz were viewed as the team on the rise, and is definitely the type of player you need to get in return if you were to trade Ben or Biid.

The Wiz were a team on the rise due to elite two-way play from John Wall and Otto Porter. Bradley Beal was just an offguard that deposited assisted buckets and had plays run for him.

Without those two guys, Beal is manning the wheel on one of the worst teams in basketball.

Beal is the Kevin Love of SGs.

They only way we're going to be able to dump Horford or Harris is if we target a franchise that can't attract free agents.

Memphis seems like a good target. I would love Winslow/Anderson coming back.

Would Philly trade #21 for Seth Curry? I'm thinking Scott + Smith + 21 for Curry. Just trying to gauge interest. Dallas wouldn't do this deal straight up, but there could be some 3-team possibilities.

And there’s like only 6 teams who can really attract free agents. Even our team has to overpay JJ and Al just to get them here. Just think about it.

There’s a big difference in the value of the salary cap between fans and actual NBA players. In the end, the home team is the “HOME team” of the fans. And we always value our home higher than others.

And that’s how a guy like morey would operate. He’d see the entire terrain and find positions where he can play those bad cards. Because at the right positions, the bad cards are playable.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
