Grimes will be back. For all that’s gone wrong you can’t seriously claim that was a bad trade. It was a great trade.

Now hopefully we resign him for around $15m/year which should be doable considering he’s an RFA and hardly anyone has cao room.

Definitely don’t want Yabu back unless dirt cheap (5-6M annually?). Grimes for sure at a reasonable price.
always a jump shot away.

Think one of the two will be back. Right?

Why? If this was going to be a contender, then absolutely, I might try to keep them both. But at this point I'm ready to pull the plug on the whole damn thing, meaning no FA signings of anyone who can't be moved and anyone and everyone is available for the right price.

Besides, Yabu is 29 and Grimes is quickly playing himself out of any realistic price range here.

I get the pessimism rn but I don't know about this approach. First Yabu and Grimes are good players and you want good players on your team, no matter if you're tanking or contending. Given that we'll be over the cap for sure, not signing Yabu or Grimes doesn't bring the ability to sign other players (for cheaper e.g.). We'll bring those guys back or get nothing, and if PG and Embiid are still toast mid-year next season you can trade them for something or other.

Are you assuming they're going to get bad deals that will cost us assets to move in the future? Not sure where that would come from. Alternatively if you're saying that we should just start clearing cap now and get ready for a full rebuild, I'd say that we won't have cap space or meaningful flexiblity until we move PG and Embiid--and those are giant enough contracts that they'll drown out anything Grimes' and Yabu's contracts would involve.

I trust Morey to pay them fair value. Hopefully bring them both back with the intention of using them as assets to retrieve assets and get under the cap later. As long as they don't over pay. I wouldn't worry too much about Grimes, he's had enough crappy games to showcase that he's not this guy on a good team, not he's showing heart fmle value.

As for Nurse. He's trying to win and get fired.

Yes, I'm very pessimistic at this point. Maybe you're right, but given the choice of being a middling 6-8 seed type of team fighting to stay out of the play-in, which it looks like we're shaping up to be, and just starting over, I'll take the latter. Until Embiid and George are gone, we're going to be treading water, and if they are toast it's likely we're going to have to pay to get rid of them. I say do it sooner than later.

I would prefer a big PG next to Maxey but Grimes makes for an interesting shooting/scoring rotation @ guard with Maxey and Mccain.
But you don't overpay especially not knowing what the other 2 Max players are doing.

He could play some sf too for stints, but totally not worth an overpay.

This is actually a fun game lol. It is nice to watch their selflessness and ball movement.

Houston is a joke and a fraud. Treadmill team that will never win jack. So bad they're getting dominated by our 4th stringers.

It would be very apropos for them to lose this pick. In fact, it should be expected with how this year has gone.

This is first half season high! If I were Morey, I would seriously re-evaluate this team at the end of the season.
