This was a great game to watch. Carter Bryant defended VJ a lot this game. Arizona played big while Baylor stuck with their multi-guard lineup, with Omier at the 5. Edgecombe chipped away with his scoring in a variety of ways throughout the game. Fastbreak, on the ball, spot up, offensive rebound putbacks and etc. Then down the stretch, when Baylor couldn’t buy a bucket, VJ took over, attacking the rim, getting to the line, and really flashing his upside as a scorer.

One line from the game’s broadcast stuck with me.. “He’s not guardable, but he doesn’t know he’s not.” That is a good description of his scoring upside.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Watched the last 6-7 minutes, and what strikes me is that VJ has a great first step and can compete and finish around the rim, but will definitely need to get stronger to play that way at this level. His 3-ball stroke is funky and needs work, but his FT stroke is pure.

His coach also said he has to improve his shooting and physique. His coach believes he should be able to shoot around 40% from 3, maybe 38% or 42%.

He needs to get up to a ROCKED UP 205 lbs, plus develop his handle, middie, playmaking, and OTD 3ball. Do all that and he's the superstar we need!

And not have a freak injury occur, like a semame seed allergy, or a motorcyle accident, or getting hit by a car while supposedly going around on your bicycle.

My only takewaway from skimming this video is that VJ needs to find better pickup games. Sloppy, low effort basketball happening in that gym.

If you hate highlight clips and are kind of a psycho, this is the video for you. Three hours of everything VJ did last year, good and bad (starts with his shot attempts but covers other things after the first hour or so):

To me, the biggest indicator that defines the failure of Edgecombe’s archetype is the combination of poor 3pt shooting and a low FT rate. That’s why Zhaire and Jaden failed. But if you improve on both, you atleast open the door to a career path similar to Jrue Holiday or Eric Bledsoe, who put up multiple seasons of 20-4-6 coinciding with his peak 3pt made and FT/g with strong defensive impact and 2 stocks per game.

I think Maxey and Grimes (and maybe McCain) would be great mentors for VJ. Neither was highly regarded as a scorer early on, Grimes was seen as just a 3&D guard, and Maxey was a sixth man with a limited offensive bag. But both put in the work and developed enough to become 20ppg or atleast 20ppg threats.

Yall tried to get cute with this pick and chose a project that we didn't need in VJ over the way better rn, upside and need in Ace. This draft decision will bite yall in the ass.

Wow, just as I was feeling great about the pick the sage has spoken and imparted his wisdom.

And since when are the Sixers "y'all"? No Ace, no LeonJordanJr24?

I said y'all because y'all was in favor of "High Character" Philly blue collar fan favorite prospect VJ over Ace position of need and highest upside in the draft potentially...." Yall" because we aint been winning and arent winning. . Its a bad situation here.
