Embiid reminds me of my Uncle James. A great guy and always the life of the party and family when he waa around. But he was always missed and things were never the same when he was locked up.

Yeah I know TMI. But this season was not supposed to play out like this.

Yo uncle James/Embiid when you coming home!!!?

Man, the negativity on this board is unreal, but hardly surprising. How about we wait until Embiid has a healthy and better team around him before getting rid of him? I understand that his risk of injury is higher than that of other players given his size and style of play, but right now when he is in there, he shoulders the scoring load and is thus the primary focus of opposing defenses which puts his body through more abuse. When our shooters are missing wide-open jump shots, our first pick this year has missed all but 4 games, and our star PG is too afraid to even attempt a mid-range jumper, he's all we have on offense. A big part of the reason why he only played 31 games last season was because he was carrying the scoring load. When he is surrounded by a better supporting cast, he won't be asked to do as much on the offensive end which will lessen his risk of injury. Personally, next season, I'd rather him primarily focus on the defensive end, even if it means his scoring numbers go down a bit.

This. If Embiid doesn't play next game then we know he wasn't close to playing this game and it will just confirm him being probable was a lie.

Pretty obvious they keeping Embiid out till Xmas day NBA showcase game. Front office pisses off fans they keep dragging the heels saying Embiid is "probable" up to game time so no one dumps their tickets.

Just say Embiid out the next "X games" and will reevaluate. That's all we want.

So sixers should have said last Monday, Embiid out next 4 games and be reevaluated by Xmas day. Pretty straight forward.

How did you think this season was going to play out?

What was your projected win total to start the year?

For me it was about 42-45, and we are basically on pace for that if Embiid stays healthy.

When he comes back you KNOW that we are going to go on a streak of 7 or 8 out of 10 games so why sweat the Small stuff when we lose when he is out?

We aren’t a good enough team where we can be expected to play 500 ball without him.

I expected Embiid to miss time. But I expected this team to play a lot better than it has when Embiid has been out. At the start of the season when he missed games the 76ers still played well. But now with Embiid out we are seeing to many 4th quarter collapses and that to me is cause for concern.

Lord Covington is not playing at the same level as he was at the start of the season (but I have faith the the guy is going to come back to his original form). We have got absolutely nothing from our #1 pick. We struggled to beat the Timberwolves and then we lost to the Lakers at home, even with Embiid playing.

I expected a .500 win team at least. But I also expected a team to come together and play with or without Embiid in the line up and that is not happening right now.

A 7-8 win streak out of 10. I'd love to see that. But I won't hold my breath.

You are right we might not be a good enough team to play .500 ball without Embiid. But we should be good enough to win games when we go into the 4th quarter up by double digits.

It could all just be growing pains and blowing 4th quarter leads might all just be growing pains for a young team. And I am good with that. And I hope it is.

I just don't like what I see at the moment from this team.

Yeah, I don’t like losing as we have been recently either, but I don’t see how it is unexpected.

Expecting us to be 500 without Embiid is extremely unrealistic. I mean if Embiid were to miss this entire season, would anyone really expect us to win even 35 games?

This is a young team with ups and downs, and we are in a down cycle right now. When Embiid comes back we will eventually get back to where we were earlier in the year where we already DID go through 10 game stretches where we won 7-8 games.

If Embiid comes back today or Monday and stays on the court, we will be back over 500 at some point in January, hopefully Fultz is healthy and contributing by that time as well, and we ride out the season with momentum.

I don’t care if we get swept in the playoffs at that point then either as it will just be more experience for us.

I was just watching Embiid highlights from a random good game from a year ago, and it struck me how much more in control he is this year, and how much better he is squaring him self up on jumpers, and landing better. Less chaos.

It’s subtle, but check out these highlights from last year.

https://youtu.be/DcqkwdoBL9k

And then highlights of a random good game this year.

https://youtu.be/_5BAgq_D4Og

He is still raw, but clearly improving, and he has still only played around 50 professional games. His efficiency is rising, and he is still getting acclimated with Simmons too.

If they can stay on the court together they should be much more effective both individually, and as a pair, in the next year, and should both improve over the following seasons.

You really would have to think that either Lebron or George could be intrigued in the off season.

Embiid has basically doubled his career minutes at this point.

Bill Simmons reached a new low, arguing on The Ringer podcast that Embiid will never be a two-way player because he gets lost on the defensive end.
You could argue that he's still really raw on the offensive end, with the massive amount of turnovers, but the defensive end?!

edit: The Hakeem Olajuwon comparisons are actually quite interesting from a statistical standpoint. Comparing both players 2nd year/23 age seasons, Embiid is the far better rebounder, has a higher TS%, a better BLK%, higher USG% and even a better AST/TOV ratio.

Squeaked out a win against Denver without him. Hopefully he comes back and we beat the Suns, and come home with a couple of wins in a row.

8 more back-to-backs after this one. If he only misses those 8 games, he'll be on pace to play 65 games this year. Would be great if we could get that from him.

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Bona/Watford/Barlow

He has had the back issue recently which set him back, but the plan/hope was that he would be playing in back to backs at some point this year.

Still, if he plays in 60+ games this year and ends the season with no recurrences of stress fractures, then next year I would just flat out let him loose. Let him play like a player with a normal injury risk.

He's listed as doubtful, so probably not.
