Really the one who could solve all of this and give leverage back to the Sixers is Josh Harris. All he has to do is say something along the lines of:

I am a billionairre, $30 million a year means nothing to me compared to getting my team to a title. I have instructed Darryl to only accept a trade he feels gets us a star-caliber player and if teams continue to lowball him then I will eat Ben's salary for the next 4 years.

I'm always surprised that you think Embiid is a championship caliber player when he has proven that he can't score late in playoff games. That seems to be the kind of guy you'd avoid.

Neither could Giannis. He was a dunker's spot scrub at the end of games that mattered. Then they surrounding him with a bunch of supporting pieces that fit and they were able to break through.

Middleton and Jrue are All Stars/All NBA two way players. They are just really good players surrounding Giannis. Deep and experienced

Fit together much much better too.

Ooh that’ll scare ‘em

Dame and his rainbow unicorn inbound

No wait

The Blazers owner is worth 20 times Josh Harris so Dame’s out

Hold on, they’re all billionaires so that won’t work with any of them

How about we try something completely off the wall

Morey could do his job

Don't believe it was offered though.

I’m starting to think nothing good at all has been offered

Why would any team offer anything good for Ben Simmons? Maybe a few months ago. No team is that dumb

Kyrie for Tobias is good for both teams. We need shot-creation and a guy ready .. proven and talented to take the ball out of Simmons hands so he can wreak havoc as a point forward.

Kyrie/ Maxey
Curry / shake / Joe
Thybulle/ Green / Korkmaz
Simmons/ Niang / Reed
Embiid / Drummond

Way better team...

I was on the trade Ben train during 2019 and I was absolutely begging Morey to trade Ben last year once it became clear that a complete regime change still couldn't get Ben to shoot and your head coach had to look like a buffoon defending it yet again.

I saw this coming since that blue white scrimmage in 2019.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad long term view of a move, but this would essentially be a wash of a year to trade for Kyrie. It would also be banking on the NBA (and the cities they're in) not mandating a COVID vaccine starting next year.

It's incredibly risky, but Kyrie is an infinitely better player than Ben Simmons.

Laughable that the Nets would want Ben Simmons.

Possibly, but we might not get to that point if the Bulls give us LaVine and an unprotected first for Ben. We might have to consider that offer.

 Keep dreaming.

I know logic and critical thinking escapes you most times. If the owner of a team says he is fine eating the salary and the GM doesn't have authority or an edict to trade Ben just to be rid of him then teams either meet our price (or somewhere in the middle) or move on. Just as we can't force teams to trade a player we want, once the owner makes that type of statement teams know they can't demand or wait us out to trade Ben for scraps.

I remember Allen Ray. Super exciting, but being undersized, one dimensional, and having a bad basketball IQ did him in. He had some really bad tourney games at the end where when his shot wasn't falling, he couldn't do ANYthing else on the court to help his team. Probably why he went undrafted and never even got a shot in the NBA.

Foye was my guy. Loved that dude. Also, surprised Curtis Sumpter never got a shot.

So you want to keep a player that won't play, and then trade for another player that won't play either.

This is honestly the worst post I have ever seen on this site by a very big margin.

They may not have a shot, but as long as we have prime Embiid, I'm not ready for this team to blow it up. As soon as he's cooked, we can go through the whole rebuilding process again, but honestly I'm surprised you're ready to start it now.

Well don't get this "no star player back = blow it up and rebuild".

And again what makes you believe there's any star player wants to come here & their team would love to trade their star for Ben Simmons ?
I'm not sure it will workout which is why I said hail mary. But I would say Simmons would be one of the better players I've seen get traded for a star. Of course it would cost a ton of draft capital as well.

My opinion is that the most realistic chance at a championship is trading Simmons and picks for a star. If we don't, I think it'll be a slow decline until Embiid asks out or is cooked.

I think I'm not understanding your point. I think you're saying we can't win a championship now so why expect a player that would help win one. If you're not blowing it up, what do you think is most realistic strategy to compete for a championship?

Again u couldn't expect something don't exist. I know it's difficult to admit the failure. But if you ask me I would say just take the best offer you can get and call it a day. As long as you keep collecting assets everything will just be fine.

KramerDSP wrote:Barkley just asked Silver to comment on the Simmons situation. Silver basically says the CBA outlines what can and cannot be done. He also says everyone has an interest, players included, in players honoring their contracts.

In case people missed it, Mike Miss went over the CBA.

Per CBA a team is banned from disciplining/suspending a player on the same grounds more than once. If a team does this, the player or union can file a complaint with the League. The League then has the option to rescind the discipline and then assumes responsibility for player discipline if the player continues to act up. This is a very basic summary, Mike covered it in greater detail.

The bottomline: It could be the Sixers will follow the letter of the CBA and set this thing up to get dumped into the lap of the league and force the league to take on the bad PR and decide what to do about a player refusing to honor his max contract with 4 years left.

“Logic and critical thinking” that results in weakening the Sixers
