I am pretty sure a promise was made by Morey in his defence perhaps after the new CBA it does not allow the 76ers to have more then 2 players making huge money and resigning Maxey is a priority over Harden. The problem is that unless Harden is willing to sign a reasonable contract for around 30mllion over 3 years then it's not a contract he can trade later.

So Morey has boxed himself in, the Clippers are not giving up much for him and now that Harden has blasted him in public forcing him to make a trade. Harden going public could actually lower his value in even further because now the Clippers know he cannot just bring him back.

Just a bad situation all around and maybe the only option is to fire Morey and hope the Harden is willing to return with a new GM, the alternative maybe accepting pennies on the dollar for Harden.

No, he already achieved that by playing a part in getting Glenn fired. I can never hate him for that reason alone.

I have no doubt that Morey promised a big payday for Harden and then went back on his word. Yeah, it's a dirty move on his part, but Harden should have covered his ass from the beginning on that. I'm also not all that mad about it because in the end, it's two snakes going at it with one screwing the other one over. Both Morey and Harden are known for being shrewd dirtbags. Just so happened that they were also friends. What did people think was going to happen? I think anyone with a brain knew Harden screwed himself by playing like crap in the two most important moments/playoff games of his career. If anything, Harden didn't hold up on his end of the deal. You don't get to suck ass on the biggest stage in the biggest moment and get rewarded with a max contract. Teams around the league aren't stupid. The entire world watched him **** the bed at the worst possible moment. He flat out quit in game six and then quit again in the first quarter of game seven after he kicked Jaylen Brown and caught a flagrant. Screw him... I'd buy him out, OR let him sit for the year. Trading him for anything less than a reasonable, fair return would be stupid. Obviously you hate the distraction as this is the 2nd one in a little over two years, but Morey can't give in. The player empowerment has to chill out. These guys make wayyyyy too much money to act like petulant children.

Pablo Torre saying James Harden has lost Daryl Morey, the biggest Harden apologist in history and that's all he has to say about that. Essentially, Harden has such a clown that he's burned even this bridge.

Morey: stop asking for the moon. Harden is not valued even at all star level anymore, regardless of what the slide rule in your pocket protector says.

Incoming: Morey leaks audio of him saying he just talked to Harden and they patched things up and he can’t wait to see him in training camp.

Source: Daryl Morey is unmoved by James’ comments. He is holding firm in his stance that he will not trade him unless it makes the Sixers a better team.

Meanwhile, I’m told James’ agent advised him against making that statement.

Risk vs reward doesnt make sense for that.

Is Maxey the cost of doing business though?

Here's the problem...keeping him will make us a worse team.

For anyone saying we should fire Morey over this: why cow tail to a player who did this at two other stops. I don’t give a crap what Harden says about lying because he’s got a history of being easily disgruntled. He’s shown he’ll do whatever it takes to get out of a situation.

Well that’s kinda damning of Harden isn’t it.
