You know what is scary about the Knicks right now, in regards to the acquisition of Anunoby? They've essentially pre-built their team for a potential arrival of Embiid.
They have their #1 option on the perimeter in Brunson. A guy that can shoot, playmake, and shot-create. They have their athletic, 3&D forward with low maintenance in Anunoby.
We obviously have our #1 option on the perimeter, as well, in Maxey. But they beat us to the punch in getting that high quality third banana. We're still stuck with Harris, who is a "better" featured player than he is a role player (based on his porous defense).

Yeah, seeing what it took the Suns to get Durant, Embiid would require a similar or best package

From what I understand, the Sixers currently have three draft picks to trade, but in 2024 draft night that becomes five 1sts. I presume if they don't make a deal before the deadline that they would be very aggressive during draft night. Of course, still need to find a partner.

They're probably getting a perimeter guy before deadline. 1 of Mitchell (who I hate for them, but they would want him), Lavine, or Dejounte.
I think Murray with Capela for Fournier/Robinson picks.
Sixers should CONSIDER Murray. I think he can return to defensive form in a different role. Can play off the ball, play-making, rebound, under contract fairly for what I just mentioned. Basically a real max level role player, for less than the max. Considering what Sixers have.... Good fit... If he returns to defense.
It seems like free agency is not going to be an option with the raptors guys. They're not going to just play this out.

Speaking of max level role players. I like the trade for the Raptors. I feel like Toronto Guy 2 guys that are younger, fit their timeline. Get to jump into one of the better young core player considerations, by trading a 26 year old 3 and D guy, for 2 guys with potential still and are already productive, and athletic and in some way were held back by Brunson and by randle respectively. Plus that Detroit pick is like a cheap late first rounder, and Masai drafts well. With that pick and the 2 actual players, I see that being more valuable than some 3 or 4 draft picks like the Clippers 2028 which can't help Toronto on the Barnes timeline
OG, for the Knicks is a better fit. Helps their defense, and a willing volume spacer that can attack closeouts and some mismatches. He's the kinda guy that can make your stars better on both ends.
Glad to see OG is gone, bad move for Philly

Quickley is a good guard, an expanded role on a bad team will inflate his stats and his next contract
Don't think he's athletic enough to be "the guy"

Re: 76ers 2023-24 Season Thread Part 1
Not sure why some believe that we "lost out" on OG. Yes, I would have loved to have had him for what he could have brought to our team but the trade clearly showed that the Raps are still trying to win now rather than rebuild while getting something in return for their pending free agents.
Aside from Maxey who we obviously aren't going to trade for the likes of OG or Siakam what youngish players (23-28) do we have that can help them win now? Reed unfortunately has not progressed the way we hoped and thus doesn't have much value while Springer is still too inexperienced (thanks again Rivers) to effectively make that determination.
As far as I'm concerned, we never had a real shot at OG barring Morey trading Maxey.

Pretend you're the Sixers GM. What trade package from NY would you accept for Embiid?
If the Sixers were trading Embiid, the first team I'm calling is OKC.

Re: 76ers 2023-24 Season Thread Part 1
OG’s agent is the son of the Knicks GM & rumor is that he was looking for a $40M deal but was willing to take a discount if he landed in NY. Not sure the Sixers ever had a realistic chance at getting him unless they were willing to massively overpay.

Agreed. And 2nd call is New Orleans.

It's not so much about the bad joke (and yes, that joke sucked and it has nothing to do with the type of humor I like), and more about him being a bad sports follow. He's young and he's new to the game so it's understandable, but it feels more like I was just following some random dude than an actual person working in media.
If the Ricky guys are gonna push for followers for him, do better. More content, less random lame ****.
Or maybe I'm just being a dick (both can be true is all I'm saying).

No, I'm with you, it's just when they introduced this guy he said he was from Iowa I think (Midwest somewhere). So this is about exactly what I'd expect from Iowa. I totally agree more content less random stuff. But, when it's a personal Twitter thread where the person is doing it themselves... this is what you get sometimes.

Fine. The dude in question is from like Iowa or somewhere close by in the Midwest. It's not unexpected.
