Have you already forgotten the McCain vitriol that spewed forth after we didn't take Knecht?

Based on that it seems the Sixers board excluding Flagg is something like

1) Harper
2) VJ/Ace
3) Ace/VJ
4) Kon
5) Tre

We absolutely have to trade down. The only guy I'm accepting at 3 is VJ and that's a real home run swing due to his work in progress iso game.

I know I have a different valuation of guys compared to the current consensus, so my thoughts on what we should do is not reality, but I'd be willing to go back as far as 8 to get a ton of future draft capital. I just don't see a real super star from the crop after Flagg and Harper, so might as well milk this pick for all it's worth if there's a team hungry enough to trade up.

In terms of superstar upside, I think it's Fears and VJ and both of them require some serious commitment/change happening in order to reach that level. Tre, Kon, Kasparas, and I guess Bailey have that next tier of maybe an all star game, but realistically a role player.

After that, I think CMB and Queen have the stats to hit multi all star level, but both also need serious work to their game. So I'd be fine trading back for either of them and getting a boatload of future assets too.

I'd put Tre over Kon. If I could just have Professor X erase my memory of Ace's stunt from last week, I'd be done for Ace.

I dunno; he'll have one of his idols PG present and McCain is pretty goofy and fun loving in his own way. I could totally see McCain being the guy Ace glues himself to and they do Tik Tok vids together.

Bro, I was saying Okafor was an ISO king during his rookie year after spending 3 months totally dumping on him every day pre-draft.

Gave props to Ben Simmons after saying he'd ABSOLUTELY NEVER have a jumpshot that would stretch out beyond the free throw line pre-draft.

Was a huge fan of the point guard distribution ability of Markelle after I called his scoring fraudulent and rated him like 7th or 8th on my big board behind Fox, Tatum, Mitchell, etc pre-draft.

I already know you're going to let us know of every 20pt game (on 25 shots) Ace has with some dump team in an attempt to vindicate your Ace fandom.

Meanwhile, if we draft him, I'll be a hopeful Ace fan.

Not sure where you got the notion that FTr is the only thing I look at. There were plenty of other factors that precluded him from being a player I'm interested. That said, not every player that hits my statistical markers are stars, but most of the all stars in the league hit those statistical markers when coming into the league. Felt like I explained that pretty well and often, but I get that you're trying to dunk on me with ignorance.

I actually do think they will draft Ace if they had a deal in place (Washington/New Orleans/Brooklyn). Whether these teams can meet Daryl's requirements im hesitant of.

Their games are polar opposites but the Ace-Simmons parallels are giving me hives. Massive ego, doesn’t want to be here, couldn’t lead his team to the NCAA tournament, gets awful advice from his personal circle, etc.

He's afraid of heights, so his vert is limited. I'm out.

(Side note, his frame is definitely wider than I've given credit. I think he can add serious muscle).

I think the end result is the Sixers trade up to 2 for Harper. The reason is has not happened is there's no immediate need for the Spurs to agree to the deal until they are actually on the clock. What if Nico does something stupid? What if Bucks and Giannis change their minds and come flying in at the last minute. Simply no good reason exists to accept our offer until they are on the clock.

Why would the Spurs do it? Harper isn't a good fit with what they have and they could flip him into another top prospect while picking up a couple valuable firsts from us it only gives them more assets to get into any disgruntled star bidding war. Heck, Spurs could even hold Hornets hostage and do a double trade down so they get VJ and Spurs pick between Tre/Ace/Kon while getting even more assets.

I also think Sixers make their best offer at the draft. Morey isn't dumb, he knows there's no benefit to the Spurs acting early. If he made his best offer before Spurs are on the clock that becomes the "baseline" for negotiations during the draft.

No one wanted Knecht more than me, and I don't remember any vitriol toward the McCain pick, only disappointment (and some disbelief) over not taking Knecht.

That was until the Tik Tok vids and fingernail painting ..........

The Phoenix Suns probably regret this one.

The Arizona Republic reports the story of how Phoenix passed on Kawhi Leonard with the 13th pick in the 2011 Draft because of questions about his shot and nervousness during his pre-draft interview.

https://www.slamonline.com/archives/report-suns-passed-on-kawhi-leonard-in-draft-partially-because-of-nervous-interview/

Since we're talking about superfluous pre-draft things that have no bearing on their future, I guess Kawhi was also nervous. Incoming 2 time NBA championships and a multi 1st team All-NBA player!
