Even the idea of bringing Ben Simmons back is pure lunacy. What's the point? If in some alternate universe it was the difference between contending or not, maybe, but in this universe we aren't seriously contending next season and the only thing Simmons would be is a distraction. Can we please just move on.

Wtf? This news comes out the day after the draft? I hope they weren’t letting him make picks if he’s getting fired the next day.

Sounds like they were tired of fielding a team strictly composed of 6’7” - 6’9” combo forwards who can’t shoot.

No way, he's our starting SG and $16m is a fair price.

LeBron opting in instead of doing his usual opt-out to sign a 1+1 (PO) deal. That means he's leaving his options open to demand a trade.

Which contender is he eyeing? Back to Cavs to free ride a couple more titles?

I doubt Morey keeps repeatedly mentioning Grimes in our front court depth and future if he isnt assured he would be returning. And why would we can a sign and trade? All would get would be come bum expiring to match salaries and a 2nd maybe rounder. Teams don’t give equal value in sign & trades.

The problem is that we need a PF, not that $16MM is too much for Grimes. We have very limited cap space and Grimes taking up that much cap at a position we're the strongest makes it a luxury.

We literally don't have a PF on the roster other than Broome. Drummond can barely play center. Embiid plays 50% of the games. PG is a small forward and doesn't defend PF's any more, if he's even healthy.

That's why $8MM to Yabu and another $8MM to split amongst 1-2 more PF/C's (Nance, Looney, Saric, etc.) is important.

I think he will retire after this season.

I agree but looks like Morey values the backcourt depth displayed in the finals and Grimes is young. Looks like George and Oubre will be splitting time at PF lol. Another season of Knicks and Josh Hart getting offensive rebounds for second chance opportunities.

I’d love to get PJ Washington. Although undersized he rebounds and stretches the floor. Dallas has too many wings if AD is adamant on being a PF. He may be looking for 16-20 per himself after the season tho

Looks like Gordon will probably decline and resign for vet minimum and Lowry will be back. (Needs to give VJ that number 7) and they will act as the player coaches.

If Oubre 8 mil and Drummond 5 mil are salary dumped for 2nds to Washington, would we be able to use that 13 mil trade exception on Yabu and not go over the 2ns apron to resign Grimes?
