You just traded a top 5 player in the NBA over the next 10 years.
Ben’s upside looks like a glorified Draymond. Don’t get me wrong, that’s a good player; but since he’s not shooting you have to construct the rest of the team to compensate for that flaw. There’s absolutely no reason to believe that this guy is going to come back shooting enough to create any gravity. Hell, I’d be surprised if he can even shoot FT’s at 70% come the fall.

A 30 year old Bojan is more athletic than a 26 year old Tobias?
correlation = non-existent

A 29 year old Jimmy Butler is more athletic than a 21 year old Furkan Korkmaz?

Compared to the much more concrete rumors about Irving, Kawhi, Durant even Horford, the fact that we are less than a week out and it’s still this vague sort of stuff seems promising. Seems like a lot of posturing and negotiation between the guys and the team instead of someone definitively wanting to leave.

The seemingly consensus speculation is that Kawhi wants to play in California and Uncle Dennis wants him in Philly or New York. Kawhi seems to let his handlers dictate everything so I think we have a real shot, here.

How bad is it for Brand if both Butler/Harris leave and we do not replace them adequately (and by adequately I don't mean Horford at 4 years $100 million)?
Is he done if he gave away all of those assets and we don't end up with anyone significant this offseason?

Ownership signed off on and were intimately involved in those moves. If they decide to want to pretend it was all on Brand and make him the scapegoat, they can, but it doesn’t really reflect reality.
That being said, I don’t see that result in free agency.

It was much more than ownership just "signing off" on the trade. Harris and Blitzer are a lot more involved behind the scenes than people think.

And much more athletic?? Huh?
Bojan would be a great, cheaper alternative to Tobi (if he walked) but let’s not exaggerate with the comps here.
Not even really sure Bojan would be an "alternative" to Tobias Harris. If anything, id think Bojan is closer to the JJ Redick role in our offense than Harris'.

I think it was a gamble you had to make. Let us not forget that some of the "assets" we gave up in those trades, kind of depreciated as well.
Robert Covington was an UDFA. He was moved in the Butler deal, played well and then got hurt.
Dario Saric was drafted and is coming up on an extension. He SUCKED in Minnesota and just got traded away to Phoenix.
Shamet was a late 1st and looked to be a promising rotation shooter. He played well in LAC, but is far from irreplaceable.
highly doubt the Miami pick brings anything back worthwhile.
I understand it was giving away a lot....but I highly doubt we push Toronto to a miracle game 7 with a sick Embiid having Dario and Roco on the squad.
If they both walk, we will have to reshuffle the deck AROUND Embiid/Simmons and should have the cap space to do so.
Also, for as well as Butler played in the playoffs, there were absolutely some "fit" issues throughout the season (expected). Same can be said for Harris (also expected coming late season via trade). While i am not condoning it, some could argue that the Sixers could potentially get better by adding more better fitting pieces around Embiid/Simmons compared to blowing their loads on maxing out Harris/Butler and trying to figure it out.

I think Bojan is probably on par with Tobias and would theoretically be cheaper, but I don't think we could get him here very easily. And if we did bring him here, we don't get the full MLE.

Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
The Kawhi meeting is a mere formality. I have a hard time seeing him moving on from Toronto, I think he's at least signing a 1 + 1, if not a long term deal. He's getting free food and drinks for life in Toronto, they're offering him free penthouses. Hell, I think the fans are offering up their wives if it will help keep him. He's revered there. He's gonna come to Philly so we can complain about him resting for load management?

I don't think Kawhi cares about any of that since he's filthy rich. If he wants to go home, he'll go home.

I mean, I think it's a formality too, but he would be LOVED in any city he plays for. He is just that good.

We’re a dynasty if Kawhi comes and we retain Tobias. Our bench would be ass again but obviously would be worth it. The vet mins will be clawing for a spot here.

Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon

Making the moves for the guy was the right move IMO. However, if he is unable to sell them on staying, then he certainly deserves some blame. We have the ability to offer these guys a max, have probably the best 2 under 25 pairing in the NBA, and play in a relatively large market.
Regardless, like you said, that's all a hypothetical and I don't anticipate that coming to fruition.
