Nice glaze session for Tyrese

They brought up a stat that says that Tyrese is sitting 16% higher than he should be right now compared to his shot quality. But he's making it look natural

I've been talking about Tyrese becoming an elite guard if he adds a shot off the dribble for years now.... He's gotten better at it than I even thought he needed to be to become an elite guard now MVP level player.

By the time he's 24... Now 25

Ben seems to think Maxey still can elevate his game further, perenial MVP candidate in his mind.

After Maxey hot start from 3, his shooting is already returning to the mean, he´s shooting 38% from downtown. I think with his volume, he will probably shoot in the 35-38% range, unless our team improves a lot and he gets easier shots.

Prior to tonight where he was 4 of 9 overall from 3, he's was at 31% off the dribble from 3 at 5.3 per game, which is down (I'll get back to that).... But an absurd 48% from catch and shoot opportunities 4.1 per game.

Bottom line, I kinda blame the Joel gravity for this. People cry about him, but they did start the season with Joel playing most of the games for the hot start And they're two men game opens up so much for Tyrese. Especially in this system where the coach doesn't adjust well. The DHO action with Jo could possibly get Maxey 1 or 2 more c&s chances a game. Not to mention Maxey playing well off of VJ who creates and looks the Tyrese in transition. All these injuries, has definitely increased his coverage and difficulty. It's hurt the record too

I think the actual skill he could use offensively that makes him go up a level is foul grifting. He has defenses so off balance.... Pump faking and drawing fouls with his jumper, and getting those Joel could when he's driving and a forearm is on him would give defenses something else to think about. Yes, he's getting to the line better this year and that's a big deal. But those are legit fouls like LeBron and Giannis, not the fake ones guys like Harden, Luka, SGA, Tre, Joel get for 6 more ppg.

I agree with him that I'm less worried about Tyrese becoming an elite passer, just experience at PG will make him a better smarter floor general. I don't want him being more like Steph who can make incredible passes, but is a turnover merchant. The turnover suppression is more important, also he's able to beat coverage better than most with his speed and handling to take less chances with the ball.

The movement shooting is what does make him elite elite, but he can't do that without guys to play off of effectively. He's a much more active player off ball with Joel. Even Steph struggles to do it when he's without his running mates. Point is, I think he has this in ways Damien never did.

Really good interview. I love how serious Maxey takes the game and every young player should be lucky to learn how to approach the game from him.

How he watches film daily, what he learned from Joel and James, what he tells guys like Justin Edwards.

I wish they clipped it up though

Got chills from this.

I've enjoyed every clip I've seen from this podcast, might have to sit down and listen to the entire thing.

Live the NBA promoting Maxey as a face of the league. About time.... He should've been invited to the Olympics after his first all star year instead of Kerr focusing on old guys.

Maxey had a good playoffs, averaging 23.7 on 45.5/35.1/89.9 shooting in 11 playoffs games.

Not as good as the 29.8 on 47.8/40/89.3 shooting in 6 playoffs games in 2023-2024.

Sixers have to build around Maxey and Edgecomb. But how? Maxey massively outperformed his draft position to be an All-NBA level player and Sixers got Edgecomb from a tank year which they probably don't want to repeat for the next few seasons, with Maxey on a max, Embid on a Max and PG on a big contract as well.

Big contracts are out. Will they be able to get a lot of draft assets by trading Embid and PG? Or would they have to attach draft assets to move off those big contracts?

I didn't realize this was the case but Isaiah Joe and Julian Champegnie were both on the Sixers at one time? They didn't do much at the time but they're now rotation players on two teams which are expected to get to the Conference Finals. They could have helped the Sixers depth.

They were casualties under the Doc Rivers regime. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know, IDK what will.

We actually waived Champagnie to get Mac McLung in the dunk contest, which is even worse.
