Re: Playoffs!?
Other than the Bucks series, Jimmy Butler has played really poorly in these playoffs.

Re: Playoffs!?
I've missed half the Finals due to work, but looking at the stats Jimmy just isn't getting to the line like he was against Milwaukee and New York.

Re: Playoffs!?
Jimmy has been fine, it’s just his berserk status wasn’t sustainable. He’s not a top 3 NBA player. He’s a top 15-20 player who was playing like a top 5 player for a stretch. That said, what he brings to the table is still something the Sixers could desperately use right now.

Exactly. His play in a few games in these playoffs has made the national media, as is their wont, proclaim him a 'superstar'. He's never been the kind of player to carry a team over the long haul, but more a rock solid, hard working guy who does a lot of things, is an asset on a playoff team, and excels in big spots..

Butler often functions as "the rising tide that lifts all boats" as they say, whereby he becomes highly driven and elevates his game in the clutch and inspires his team. That stands in contrast to how the Sixers' stars function all too often at those times, whereby they become lethargic or lackadaisical and do the opposite of inspiring their teammates. That's quite a difference. Butler at least exhibits the effort and intent required to spearhead his team at critical times, whether he's fully successful or not, which is inspiring in its own right, whereas the Sixers' stars often appear to suffer from a lack of such effort and intent, which is not inspiring but deflating.
If you have a player who's functioning as "the rising tide that lifts all boats," well then if they don't get it done themselves, at least their intent and effort may inspire other players to get it done. If the players you know have to play well to win appear lethargic and lackadaisical on the other hand, well then the team is likely to be emotionally deflated, thus making the necessary contributions from other players all the less likely.
An important element of "culture," in a nutshell. Players affect each other on teams. This isn't an individual sport.

I think it was in Thinking Basketball’s podcast, where they talked about Jimmy’s game built on his tricks that eventually teams can get used to these tricks and be better in defending him as the season goes.

I am not sure about that because I don't know of a single NBA player ever who won a title while his best teammate was Bam Adebayo and the team was composed of a bunch of second rounders. Merely the fact that he brought this Heat team into the Finals while beating both the Bucks and the Celtics makes Jimmy the top 2 player next to Jokic.

Heat: 4-15 from 3
Nuggets: 1-15 from 3
It’s playoff basketball; you gotta get baskets where you can find them. 3 ball jacking works in the reg season, but defenses adjust to it in the playoffs.

But Denver really isn't jacking 3's, they're missing some wide open looks in transition and in the flow of their offense.
Now the Nuggets have decided to play bully ball with Joker.

Re: Playoffs!?
Maybe the worst official review I've ever seen. How on earth is that a foul on Gordon? If anything, it's an offensive foul on Butler. Just an atrocity, as that's a game changing call.
Damn, Silver really wants a couple more games.

Re: Playoffs!?
Wow, what a roller coaster ride for Butler these playoffs. Brutal way to potentially end it with that turnover.

This is far from the cleanest game, but damn, the intensity is off the charts. Great playoff basketball.

Outside of those two 3's, Butler was brutal tonight. Passive and a non-factor all night.

Congratulations to the Nuggets, that was well earned.
