A pump fake, feet reset is about the extent of Malik's shot creating ability. He can't get anywhere with his handle. Especially at the NBA level.

Can't be too upset. Should have been a blow out at the half. UNC played like garbage today. More disappointed that Fox goes out like this after playing like a god recently. First and last tough game for UNC until Gonzaga. The seeding this year was an absolute joke.

I hope UNC loses to Oregon, but it's very unlikely.

I will say that I'm seething at the officials since they robbed us of Fox, Adebayo, and Monk for much of the first half due to embarrassing calls. But I could be biased for thinking like that.

Wonder how different this game is if they hadn't played in December. Seemed like Roy had a lot of wrinkles to throw that the frosh weren't ready for. Jackson on Monk was a great call. And that zone they threw out there late killed UK's run.

I didn't like this year's Kentucky team. I'm surprised they made it this far. Gonna be cool next year to see them with a true rim protecting C in Nick Richards. Something they've lacked the past couple of years since Willie and Towns left.

Would you take Thornwell over Monk in a vacuum, i.e. without considering team needs?

Even if I agreed with that stance on his athleticism (I don't), isn't Robert Covington about two deviations below the athletic standards of the SF position? Does that prevent him from being an elite defender?

Of course I would take Sindarious Thornwell over Malik Monk in a vacuum.

Covington has a comically short vertical but is quicker laterally and covers more ground than Thornwell. I don't think Thornwell had the quicks to cover NBA 2s, and he has average length for a 3. Covington has sufficient athleticism to guard his 'natural' position and has elite length there.

It was still an awful game. Hitting two bi shots in the last minute doesn't change that. He played like trash for 39 minutes.

It's been this way for the past few games. Neutralize Monk, which isn't too hard (and part of the reason I'm cooling greatly on Monk), and the offense kinda staggers. However, Bam has been playing out of his mind along with Fox recently. So, instead of forcing the issue with Monk this game, UK went to Bam. It would have worked, because Bam got fouled frequently, but there were no calls, or even over-the-back calls on o-rebounds. We eventually had to pull him which should have devastated our offense, but Isaac played pretty well in his absence.

This is a different game if the officials didn't neutralize us in the first game. That said, what can you do? Congrats to UNC.

Zone or match-up Zone is the way to beat Kentucky. Fox and Briscoe can't shoot. Forces Monk to score every possession... Like he did the 1st time they played.

That's my two dudes, right there!

DeAaron Fox's 3pt% by month:

November .133
December .154
January .231
February .250
March .417

One of the most important metrics for any developing player is "delta", or rate of change (improvement).
March is clearly an outlier. But the modest improvements bode well. The confidence with which he shoots from deep is also encouraging.
