We actually waived Champagnie to get Mac McLung in the dunk contest, which is even worse.

Not beating those Unserious Organization accusations

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed watching McLung in the dunk contest. He helped revive an event that was basically dead for like a decade. Hindsight is always 20/20 lol. The bottom line is Champagnie would never have developed here like he has in San Antonio.

It’s depressing to see all the ex-Sixers thriving and our only coping mechanism is to pretend it doesn’t matter because they’d never develop here.

He's entertaining and it was entertaining the first time. But, they should've never let mclung in that contest.

They need to literally intentionally recruit top young talent to participate from within 3 years of entering. Guys from the shooting stars competition.

And pay them 2 million to win. 500000 to participate.

Imagine guys like Cooper Flagg, Steph Castle, VJ and Ace in this year's competition.

These professional dunkers make what the normal super athletic NBA player do look boring... Because they spend all year practicing dunking

Yep - just let the professional dunkers show off and be done with it.

2nd time I've heard today that Daryl didn't draft Maxey. Again, at least he didn't screw it up, but Jared remains his most impressive pick. VJ was easy.

Maybe it’s Brand making all the draft picks and that’s his whole purpose.

I don't buy it. Scouting reports aren't fortune tellers. You can be handed the best scouting reports in the world, but a decision still needs to be made.

I'm not going to give Morey credit for whoever the next guy takes at 22.

Sure, maybe that's the case too.

I should rephrase. Daryl definitely drafted Maxey and should always get some credit for it... Had final say. Again could've messed it up and they drafted who he was on board with. But, I don't think he could've done the work ahead of time that makes him look like some sly genius.

It definitely takes the scouting department and front office a number of weeks to put together a draft board, especially one that goes into the 20s where you have no idea where guys will fall, so many possibilities, including guys that end up in the 2nd round and you are likely in "best available by our standards" territory. Houston didn't have a first round pick that year, So I doubt he was already doing that work before he was in Philly...., And he was hired two weeks prior to that draft I believe.

I should say that I don't think He put together a scouting team or have some especially keen eye where he saw something in Tyrese that no one else in the league ever did that fast.

Due to COVID they didn't have any workouts or in person visits, or traditional combine.... And the virtual interviews took place prior to Daryl getting hired. So it would have made sense for him to have deferred to the head coach and Brand who understood the roster and went through that process talking to prospects after he reviewed what their plan was. They wanted a guard. Brand traded Fultz for the pick. Rivers had positive history drafting and developing guards... Such as SGA a year prior. Just seems like the groundwork was there before.

3rd time. Keith who is a nut sometimes, but definitely plugged in to that franchise... Says Daryl wanted to trade the pick and Brand fought to get Maxey.

Also, at the beginning of the podcast Keith confirm that his sources say that they could have gotten Halliburton for Ben maybe even before the season (I say that part because he said before Ben's value dropped) But Daryl wanted to hold out for Harden.

Keith is the only person who has reported the Haliburton thing.

Daryl was running around suppressing that info

I do remember some reports that he wanted both Fox and halliburton or three picks and Fox for Ben and people thought he was trying to wait out for James with that type of nonsense. Just in the heat of that season.

That's why I think he can have some deniability. There wasn't a trade to be had, as Philly should have been willing to give assets instead of demanding ridiculous ones

Haliburton said himself the morning before the Indy deal, his agent called him and told him to be ready because he was probably getting traded. Haliburton asked where, agent said not fully sure yet but probably Philly.

Daryl was asking for the sun and the moon from Sacramento because he only wanted Harden.

He's overly reliant on analytics and his formula is outdated. Good riddance.

Really came here to say congrats to Tyrese for making All NBA, but saw the Hali thing and cannot let that go because it was such a bad decision by Daryl. Complete lack of foresight.

In my head, I will forever maintain they could've also dumped Tobias Harris in that theoretical trade as well, because at the time Sacramento had a ton of mediocre players on pricey deals. Hield and Barnes were over 20M, Bagley and Tristan Thompson over 10M.

Congrats to Tyrese for welcoming his first child into the world. It’s wild to imagine him as a father after he was such a baby faced kid not too long ago.
