Ok. Cool. Thanks for the insight.
BTW, do you know if they are targeting a defensive minded PF/C or just any old PF/C?

checking in b4 a kayak excursion....this tidbit is interesting...we plan on talking to denver(if we havent already) about how serious they are about trading anthony. was told we wont deal iguodala just to move a contract butt if we can get some serious return talent(such as this)..we will explore. He also mentioned that we would place calls about other sign and trades possibilities....but no specifics were given. anyway..we are trying to make another impactful move. we will see. back to vaca....

Sounds good. If we could get Melo for Iggy and change, I'd do it so quickly.

I'd trade everyone on the team, minus Jrue/Turner to get Melo.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 11)
It would be pretty sick to land Melo with just Iggy and anyone but Jrue and Turner. I don't think it's possible though. I'd bet they'd want Turner involved in any deal.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 11)
Goes to show, that Iggy will get moved if possible. I think its funny when statements are made that some guys aren't going to be moved, and then all of a sudden this happens. Everyone knows this team is not a good team. We have some pieces that need to be moved. As is this team might win 40 wins at most. And most of our money is wrapped up into average players. Brand and Iggy. Anytime managment says guys won't get moved, tells me that they are either lying or just bad managment. Unless you have a Kobe, everyone is tradeable.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 11)
Thanks for the update, SF. I doubt Iguodala can be the centerpiece in a deal to bring back Anthony. Also, the story about Anthony seems to indicate that the Nuggets will trade him if they are unable to sign him to an extension. I assume they are offering him the max. If he doesn't take their offer, does that mean he's determined to become a UFA?
If we trade for him (and break the bank) then I would expect an extension comes with that. If not, it's a HUGE risk considering that you'll be giving up talent (Iguodala, Holiday, Speights) and picks.

Also forget Anthony because I think that's a pipe-dream (I severely doubt he even gets traded)... the above part of SF's update is the really interesting part. Who are we going to try to target in a sign-and-trade?
I think it's safe to eliminate LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Joe Johnson, Pierce, Allen, and Rudy Gay. Three names of interest though to me are David Lee, Carlos Boozer, and Amar'e Stoudemire. For one, I think all three of their existing teams would want Iguodala which makes a sign-and-trade very possible. Secondly, all three big men would fill a huge need in this roster's frontcourt.
Lee: Someone is going to overpay him. He had a 20/10 season while making the All-Star team on a bad Knicks roster. He's always crashed the glass hard but I wonder about his PPG in a system that isn't D'Antoni's run and chuck style. Dana Barros once averaged 20.6 PPG and 7.5 APG while making the All-Star for our terrible squad. He got a big contract from the Celtics and never averaged more than 13 PPG in a season in any of the eight years after that. Lee worries me.
Boozer: Hard, tough as nails, low-post presence that we need BUT... he turns 29 at the start of the season. He fits the mold of the player we want but I don't see how a 29 year old Boozer would fit in with a team as young as ours. He would be great for the first three seasons but if this is a sign-and-trade to come here, he's going to want a six year contract. Paying Boozer into his mid-30s would be a bad idea for this team.
Stoudemire: Turns 28 after the start of the season and so he's just a year younger than Boozer. Again, the idea of paying him a six-year contract into his mid-30s may not be the best idea. That said, Amar'e probably has four more all-star/superstar seasons left in him and his low-post game would be a huge help when paired with Turner. He supposedly wasn't that interested in being here in January when the trade rumors were going but that was a Sixers team that was coached by Jordan, didn't have Turner, and didn't have any real sense of direction. Doug Collins has lived in Phoenix for awhile and so I wonder if he has some relationship with Amar'e.
What other players do you think we could be looking at in a S&T?

I think Lee would be the best option of the group. He lead the NBA in double doubles last year basically just being a hustle player and adding a jumpshot to his game.

The only problem with those guys is that we have Elton Brand and his huge contract. We need a center not a PF.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 11)
Okay, he was 4th in the league in double-doubles and fourth in rebounding. And he doesn't require any offense to run through him to perform. He's still the best option of the group to fit in with this team and head coach, imo.

I don't think Elton Brand is going to factor much in the way of what the Sixers try to do with on the court talent. There are already a number of reporters saying that they believe Young will be the starting PF with Brand either coming off of the bench or playing center. If the Sixers move Iguodala for a legitimate PF, that stance won't change.

I think Lee is the most realistic of these options. If/when the Knicks strike out with the main core of superstars, I think they'll sign Amar'e and then try to get Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay. I could see them being willing to do a sign-and-trade for Iguodala instead. Gallinari is a long-range bomber and so you can have an Iguodala-Gallinari combo on the wings and have success. The only problem is that Iguodala plays defense and isn't a shooter... two things D'Antoni might not like.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 11)
Aside from the night we learned we had the 2nd overall pick, that is the best news I've heard. Glad to hear Eddie the Shot (I'll give him his nickname back if he pulls something off) is not asleep. And you HAVE to ask about Carmelo, even if it costs you Iguodala, Williams, Speights and a draft pick AND taking a long-term contract off of Denver's hands they may not want (hello Birdman). But Melo or not, I'm a fan of the line of thinking - not because I want to trade Iguodala, but let's get some pieces here that actually fit.
The funny thing is that if you traded for Melo for an Iggy-based package, the problem in finding Thad minutes at the 3 position just becomes worse.

Can't imagine Denver accepting a package that didn't have Turner and Iguodala in it.

To be honest with you, I agree. Actually I think Denver jumps at that offer if we did it. I just don't think we can afford to go THAT all out because we need one or the other still on the team for it to make sense. The more curious question (and not to turn this into a fantasy trade thread) is what do we say when they ask for Turner, Thad and our expiring contracts (Green/Kapono).

I'd lose it if we got Melo... We would be worlds better if it was for Iguodala...
However, Melo and Thad would be redundant, right?

Can't imagine us agreeing to such a said package. Evan Turner is untouchable. He and Holiday are the ONLY untouchables.
This is us doing our due dilgence like Stefanski said. You do your due diligence and you see what's out there.
Now Kobb, can I ask what you have against inside scorers? No really, from Thad to David Lee, everyone that scores underneath the basket, is a "roleplayer" to you. This game is won with inside scoring, the more inside scorers you have, the more dangerous you are.
TGP: Mike D'Antoni Had Joe Johnson(a solid defender) and Raja Bell on the wings. Also Shawn Marion.
If Iguodala were on the Knicks, I see him playing that Shawn Marion role in his system. As a hybrid 3/4 that would attack the glass and be an additional ball handler on the break. Phoenix Fans long wanted Iguodala because of how much of a PERFECT fit Iguodala is.
I really like David Lee for this team, I like Lee's activity around the basket. I like that he has a nose for the ball. I like that he can hit a jumper out to 15 feet. Unfortunately, as SF said, Lee's a 4, not a 5. And Lee has never gotten stronger defensively, whether it be via the post, or via shotblocking.
If Lee focused on these two things, he surely would be talked about as a max player. As of now, he's an 8-10 million dollar type.
