SF,

Witht he article today that the 6ers will have to match an offer to Thad, the question is what does the team have as a ceiling for him? If a team offers 5/$35 mill or so, do they let him walk?

Hopefully they do!

1) Creating cap room, and acquiring a superstar via FA/Trade in 2013
2) Sucking bad enough next year, that we get lucky and land a franchise player via draft
3) Evan Turner turns into Brandon Roy, but with knee's, next year

If the situation with Iguodala is as bad as it seems behind closed doors, getting something that free's up money and adding a potential decent young player is about as good as your gonna get imo... and the longer you wait, i think the lower the offers will become.

Best case scenario: we move Iguodala,Turner explodes onto the scene with a bigger role next year and we free up cap space for 2013 where we can hopefully pull off a move to bring in a superstar to make us relevant again.

Worst case scenario: we move Iguodala, suck balls and land a top 5 pick next year, where we can hopefully add a potential stud.

This is exactly what I have been saying this whole time. If Turner and Jrue have bigger roles next year, and we are good, it means Jrue and Turner are becoming really good player (Mostly Turner). Menawhile, if they suck - we suck...we get at least a Top 10 pick in a draft that is going to be historically strong. Right now, guys going like #9-#12 in next years draft could go #2 this year.

impossible to answer the thad ceiling without knowing the cba agreement. I dont think they will overpay him. Put it that way..but their focus is on the draft tonight(and hopefully an Iguodala trade)

i hear u PK....IMO,we have learned that we arent winning anything with Iguodala/Brand...

we need to try and remove them and there salaries from the picture asap, and see what the young guys can do with bigger roles.Otherwise, we will never know if our "core" is even worth trying to build around.

The Kaman trade got squashed too. Awesome.

Ah what perspective can do to a man. At this point, the Ellis/Iggy swap looks like a godsend, and the idea of us sitting tight and drafting Markieff or Vucevic is incredibly frustrating. However, just two weeks ago, I hated the Ellis trade, and would have been totally fine with either of those guys at #16. Damn you Kahn!!!

Possible, SF, but I see a big name sliding to the 16 spot...which one is the question.

Iguodala should be a big ticket as well.

I'm fine with no Iggy trade tonight, but if we have the opportunity to take a talented player that drops into their lap and we take Vucevic instead, I'll be pretty upset.

Boring would be better than stupid. The 76ers, land of lowered expectations.

A lot of people would like to see the team try and go at it with their younger core next year. I have no problem trading Iggy for young guys who aren't stars, but add more young inventory for a future trade. The current management team doesn't seem willing to do that, they want to get something for him that ensures we are competitive this year.

PK5, I didn't necessarily mean your favorite player when I said flashy like Iverson. I mean any player with that kind of flash. I think Derrick Williams is the same type of guy. So is Kemba Walker. I want a radical move to be made that gets us a go to #1 scorer with the mentality of a clutch player that wants the ball in the end of games.

Boring may be better than stupid, but boring is still boring. I watch sports to be entertained, not bored. Stupid moves can pay off in unexpected ways sometimes.

Sorry. I'm in Monta kill mode.

I'd be on board with DWilliams.

As long as we don't pass on someone with upside for Morris or Vucevic ( who I am coming around on.)

I'm cool.

Where did you hear that? The last I heard is that Philly is just waiting to see if LA blinks and gives them the entire package that they want. Have they issued a denial of some sort?

I am so tired of reading the same posts that say the same thing.

I am ok with trading Iggy for blah blah blah
This guy is better blah blah blah
Lets just stand pat and trade him the summer blah blah blah

Its like this. The Sixer might trade Iggy.
And we will probably will stand pat at 16 and draft a big man.

Then don't read the posts if you are "so tired of reading the same posts"...simple concept.

I'm wondering if the Omri + #7 for Iggy deal had any legs. That seemed like a pretty reasonable deal for both sides, considering the fact that nobody on Iggy's level will be signing with the Kings this year with all the uncertainty surrounding their future. Is that a dead deal?
