Right. I'd expect to get a lot more for the next Lemarcus Aldridge...

That would be funny. The pick would mostly be for taking Asik. Getting someone to give you something for Okafor is like trying to get a kid to eat their broccoli. You gotta hide it under all kinds of cheese sauce to get them to take it.

I have concerns about Jah passing a trade physical.

Well, Jrue passed the Pelicans' physical, so anyone can. :D

Yes on both counts. BC should be willing to eat even long term deals to maximize return. If he could get a return like that he should eat Asik. That Pellies pick, even next year, would be sweet.

It's amazing to me that a team with Anthony Davis can have such apathetic fans.

That tells me that the Pelicans should move to another city.

Yeah, Pells' fans just never post on realgm, it's never taken off for them. Like all fan bases, they talk in some places, just not here.

Saw a tweet somewhere that Detroit was somehow being included in this deal as a 3rd team.

Maybe something like:

Pelicans: Okafor and Reggie Jackson
Pistons: Rashaun Holmes, Jerryd Bayless and Sergio
76ers : 2018 1st top 8 protected, Jrue Holiday and Ajinca

I got a feeling the trade fell through. If it was as close as people were saying (Twitter) Jah wouldnt have played last night

The way that the secrets became public so quickly is so unprofessional. Really makes you appreciate the way Hinkie did things.

Could have been the Hornets that leaked the information... Can never be sure...

I'm hopeful BC was just demonstrating his willingness to walk away from a 'bad deal' (let's be honest, there is no bad deal) for Okafor.

Following it on Twitter was interesting. Seemed Okafor for a protected pick and Ajinca was locked in, just ironing out the details of the protection then suddenly PHI also wants Jrue came out of nowhere. Made me think of in fantasy football when youre trying to make a trade with someone who gets cold feet in the last minute and then tries to change the entire parameters of the deal around, knowing that it wouldnt be accepted.

This is how like every trade rumor goes

-GM's on both sides leak to the media. Feed info about how "close" the deal is. Because deep down neither team is all that thrilled with how negotiations are going and hope to pressure the other side

-Deal inevitably falls through since neither team was really all that comfortable

dont forget:

Pressure a possible 3rd team to make a better deal for the guy being traded

Yeah. We could have been that 3rd team, and that was pressure on the Nets to come down off their ridiculous demand for two 1st round picks for Brook Lopez.

Pretty sure the Pels leaked it. Or someone in NO. I remember some tweet or something I read that said the "sources" were claiming to be Pels people. Also, there's an "insider" on the T&T board claiming to know the details of the deal, and saying it's far from a done deal, as Lakers, Portland, Bulls and others have interest in Okafor as well.

With a salary cap of around 94 mil for 16-17, and an Asik salary of 9, 10, and 11 mil per year is just a little over a MLE salary in the greater scheme of things. It's like getting rid of Kenny Thomas in 2008-10, i.e., it's not that bad if it returns a couple good assets.

POR gets Asik
PHI gets Holiday, Ezeli, and top 10 protected 2018 NOP 1st
NOP gets Okafor and Turner

Is that terrible?

All I've found is Jah for Ajinca and a protected first. I did see the Holiday twist thrown in, but I doubt that has legs. We'll see, I mean maybe another team offers something different. I would love to get a guard with a hint of potential in return. Galloway would be fine by me lol.
