I really like Saric, but on a Ben Simmons led team, he doesn't seem like a good fit.

Bolden should be a more efficient 3 point shooter, he's more athletic, provides similar passing ability, can also play minutes at the 5 and is obviously night and day as a rebounder/defender. I'm not sure exactly how he'd go thrown in to a starting role, but certainly coming out of the draft I felt he could be a starting level NBA PF. Would be awesome to see 2 Aussies starting on the same team as well.

Boldens potential is basically a 6'11" Roco , Def upgrade at starting PF , please bring him back asap.

I like the idea of Bolden coming up too. Bench is too thin.

He has tremendous potential, but pump the brakes as he's not coming over until next year at the soonest. I hope he fulfils his potential as well, but at this point he's in the Furkan category so why have him on the bench this season? Hopefully he makes a big jump between now and next year...

Oh Thats including his games in the Israeli league versus really crappy competition.
I've met him once as I'm here in Israel and he's a really humble cool guy but He has been pretty disappointing to say the least so to all those getting their hopes up I'd taper them a little.

Those samples are also incredibly tiny. If he had made literally 1 more 3pt shot in Euroleague play this year his % would be just about what smitty originally posted (36%).

Same going the other way though.

I'm not gonna act like I've watched this guy play live since summer league but I'm not getting why people think he could give us minutes right now. Seems like he's doing fine over there but nothing special.

Me neither, just pointing out that he's played a smallish role in 7 Euroleague games, so a glance at stats isn't a great source of info.

Fwiw, I liked the Bolden pick but still think he's kind of a longshot to succeed in the NBA. I get that he's a utility player who does a few different things, but to my eyes he might not be good enough at any of them to make it all work: not quite big enough or quick enough, not a good enough shooter or strong enough finisher/rim runner, not a good enough rebounder or passer. He's got a good motor, though, and all those things are questions of degree (he has the skill but how good will he be at it)--so we probably won't be able to tell how much translates until we see him play in NBA settings.

I've seen most of his games and He shows flashes but can't get consistent minutes and getting outplayed by a guy called Alex tyus and Deshaun Thomas.
I'm good friends with his mates and I normally live in Australia so I'm rooting for him but I can't see it right now.

Guys with decent athleticism and length that can rebound and block shots are usually a pretty safe bet. Even if his skillset doesn't translate, I think he projects as an excellent, versatile reserve frontcourt player that can play at the 4 and 5, respectively.

Based on the tools he showed in SL, it seems he should have a good enough starting point to be a successful NBA player. Unless he just has a terrible basketball IQ, which understandably couldn't be exposed in SL, its hard to envision him not being a productive rotation big man. Playing in Europe, at his age, won't give him the minutes to answer all questions about him. But it will give him the opportunity to get ready for the limited role he'd see in the NBA, and it would get him acclimated to European ball movement offense that Brett Brown uses.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Amir has largely been a net neutral player, which is better than the rest of our bench and what you want from your backup C.

As much as we love the tools and skillset of Bolden, most likely he will be a net negative player as a rookie.

We are trying to win and make the playoffs this year. Let Bolden develop and season overseas and bring him back on a team friendly deal when he is closer to his prime. This is Spurs 101...

Yup. You don’t bring up everyone and throw them into the fire at the same time. Ideally you develop a system that tells these kids what we’re looking for out of them and there roles. Then you’ve got a few of them overseas working on there games and getting PT while not under contract.

After a season or 2, you bring them over if they have hit your goals....and suddenly you have a more developed/seasoned prospect coming into the fold on a cheap, team friendly contract for 2-4 years. They can replace guys like Holmes/McConnell/StauskAs when there rookie deals expire because you don’t spend to keep bench players.

You get a look at them, see what you have for a few years and repeat the process, hopefully hitting on someone along the line worth becoming a piece of the puzzle.
