Question about next year's draft (our pick and maybe Lakers' pick).
I'm predicting pick around 12 - 18 for Sixers and around 6-9 for Lakers (if not traded to Boston)

What position are we looking for and what player would fit well?

To me, position of ball handler is already covered with Fultz and Simmons. So no Doncic.

A wing, shooter, slasher or a back-up (replacement?) for Embiid are needed?

For the wing position with Lakers' pick: Knox, Bridges
For back-up/replacement Embiid: Williams, Carter

For the wing position with Sixers' pick: Knox (can fall), Trent JR
For back-up/replacement Embiid: Nick Richards, McCoy

I think that we have a complete roster right now in terms of coverage of all of the positions so there isn’t a NEED per se of a certain position.

We should have the freedom to take the best player available. That being said, we could always use shooters. I also sort of like the idea of a tough nosed defending and rebounding 4.

You might like Seth's Draft House.

To be honest, I don't know much about him or the other incoming freshman. I haven't been researching like I have been in recent years.

I like Robert Williams though for a big athletic rebounding and defending 4, and he could conceivably be available in the 6-9 range.

If the Sixers pick ends up say 15, and the Lakers pick ends up 7, could we end up being able to make a deal to get up to 4 or 5?

Alabama is going to be a fun team to watch. I think Donta Hall is a sneaky good PF prospect. Sexton has a chance to be a special. Especially if he allows Avery Johnson to coach him hard.

During the US junior team camp, Zion Williamson measured in at just 6'5" barefoot and a whopping 272 pounds. Some concerning measurements, but he continues to dominate on the court and show elite level athleticism.

I don't know about Zion yet. He's a little weird to me. I can only wait until he plays against college players who are as big as him. He's just so much bigger than everyone else. I want to see if he has a jump shot too. I want to know what he can do if he can't get to the lane at will.

From Kentucky, I'm really expecting huge things from Kevin Knox. He put up some good pro day numbers today.

I'm liking Knox right now. Length, athleticism and a jumper. If he demonstrates legitimate handle and scoring ability, he could really rise.

Knox, Diallo, Richards...jeez, this team is going to be really fun to watch. Finishers all over the place.

A red flag for weight issues further down the line?

Calling Zion a "McDonalds all-american" is basically a double entendre!

It's a shame Vanderbilt is out till January. He was all the rave in summer practices. Super young team though. Should be interesting.

So is Zion just Deonte Burton? Speaking of which, I'd take Burton this preseason over some of these other scrubs.

Having these kind of measurements are scary because basically only Charles Barkley has been a star in this kind of body. It’s like a 6’0 shooting guard dominating high school. If he turns into the next Allen Iverson then great, but it is a very narrow path.

Think there's still need for some specific skill set (lengthy slasher, shooter). A back-up for Covington, a replacement for JJ Reddick.

Sexton? Do we need another ball handler when we already have Fultz and Simmons?

I get the sense that Sexton plays like Russell Westbrook, but might only have Kyrie-level athleticism.

In terms of the PG prospects, I'm leaning Trevon Duval. Dude looks like Derrick Rose on the court. I think he might have more emotional intelligence than Sexton, as well.

The benefits of Fultz having a 6'9" wingspan is that none of these top PGs will be off the table because Markelle has the size to play the 2.
