I don't remember who it was but one reporter either reported or suggested a few days ago that Jojo not playing yet isn't because of his face but because they want to make sure he's ready for 5 on 5 physicality again with his conditioning.

thats such a sixer thing to do too so I believe it... you know, cuz its impossible to let him just play shorter stints until his conditioning is back to normal... cant play him in shorter stints, naw, impossible

Right now after Joel comments. Looks like game 4 at the very earliest.

Knowing the sixers front office history. At this point. I don’t think embiid even comes back at all (if they lose the series). They intend to keep him out the full 4 weeks after surgery.

Embiid’s comments have nothing to do when he comes back. I don’t know why you say his comments mean game 4.

We all read his comments by now about now

Read on Twitter
?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet

If he’s not ready by 8pm Thursday night. I don’t see him playing game 4 which is literally 42 hours later Saturday at 2pm.

Game 5 is Tuesday April 23 which is what the sixers likely were (are) hoping since this gives embiid 3.5 weeks from surgery date.

I don’t trust the sixers organization in terms of injury they are super conservative with their management of player injury.

With the way our team is handling our guys, Embiid maybe able able to play until he’s 40. Downside is it averages only 30 games per season LOL

But seriously, maybe we are just preventing a situation where Olynyk or some heat player accidentally hurt his face and it will force us to sit him on a more important game in the next round or two.

He wouldnt be wearing a mask if it’s healed 100%

Lets be honest... we didn't play Embiid game 2 because we thought we could handle the business without him... and could buy him some extra time. If we won game 2 Embiid would have said nothing.

We need to take 1 of 2 without JoJo and we are good. But that's easier said than done, Heat are much better at home.

And I'm really starting to think that it's better to hold him out, cause there dirty players in Heat who will target his face with elbows intentionally.

If he does not play game 3 this is 100% false.

I agree with that last part. That was a super physical game, with a lot of harder than necessary fouling. I'd keep him out of game 3, if we lose, then he plays game 4 to hope for a split. I really think we need to get Anderson into our top 8-10 rotation and lay out some pretty hard fouls.

I don't think that we will have the real Embiid in his first game. The idea that we bring him in because we really need him to win a game for us doesn't make sense to me.

We should bring him in as soon as medically feasible, with the hope that he will start to round in to form before the end of the series.

I am expecting him to play on Thursday, and I hope I am right. I just have a feeling that he is close enough for the importance of the playoff series to factor in the decision.

Apparently the teams wants him to wear goggles and a mask and that is what is causing the delay.

i am not a dr and dont know why they would want him to wear both but that is what i heard and could be delaying his return

I'd recommend a motorcycle helmet if they want a full protection for Embiid's injury.

Considering this link and if Joel plays...

..4-1

Just take a look at how Embiid's points, rebounds and blocks per game compare with recent Hall of Fame centers in games in which they played 35-plus minutes:

Joel Embiid Vs. Modern-Era HOF Centers
PPG RPG BPG
Joel Embiid 28.9 11.6 2.3
Shaquille O'Neal 27.8 12.7 2.7
David Robinson 25.4 12.1 2.8
Hakeem Olajuwon 25.3 12.6 3.6
Patrick Ewing 25.1 12.6 2.8

The best time to see a fully unleashed Embiid? When he decides to take matters into his own hands, initiating offense after snagging a rebound, recovering a blocked shot or swiping a steal. The 7-footer brought the ball up about once per game in 2017-18, and on those plays, with Embiid as the point-center, the Sixers averaged an incredible 1.21 points per possession, per Second Spectrum. That's better offense than James Harden's Rockets (1.15) and Steph Curry's Warriors (1.14).

2017-18 Sixers (Embiid, Ben Simmons, Robert Covington, JJ Redick, Dario Saric)

Offense: 117.1

Defense: 95.7

Net: +21.4

2016-17 Warriors (Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala)

Offense: 122.4

Defense: 98.4

Net: +20.0

2015-16 Cavaliers (LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, JR Smith, Tristan Thompson)

Offense: 115.3

Defense: 102.8

Net: +12.5

LOL.

How can he wear googles and a mask? Has that ever happened before? If such a contraption exists, and the doctors want him to use it then he should agree to it quickly, and play.

Joel is great but if he does not play this series, so be it. He had pretty major surgery and I would rather lose the rest of the games than see our future HOF 10 year center get hurt any further.
