Ben needs more than anything an ego death journey. But he isn’t the type to do it in fact far from it hence why he needs it more than anything else.

Send the whole team in the off season.
AFL teams do it during preseason training. Everyone treated equally. Egos left on the bus.

Personally, I dont have an answer to this
That cannot be an option under any circumstances. If Simmons is moved for anything less than an impact player it is a de facto statement that The Process is over and it is time time to start the rebuild.
It's either that or it's back to the Iggy years and the 6-8 seed treadmill.
That would be the only scenario that I'd like to see Embiid moved and not finish his career here - I'd rather tear it down and start over while giving him a chance to win somewhere than watch him play 45-50 games a year on a .500 team.

The Process ended April 2016. What we've seen in the past 5+ years is Harris and his FO frantically and unsuccessfully take Hinkie's vision/fruits of his labor and throw **** at the wall hoping something would stick.

Or probably just tank for a season get a top pick and let Morey draft?
If the top pick is good but not that great then we explore trading Biid. But if the top pick is great, then we explore competing with the top pick and Biid.
Probably could also explore trading top pick for a top tier player to play with Biid also.

Tomjas wrote:76ciology wrote:So it was just a back issue.
Then the sixers fine Ben.
Ben now says its a mental health issue.
Then the Sixers fine himPer Kyle Neubeck of The Philly Voice, Simmons’ camp did not exactly expect the fines and the punishments to be this high as they continue their holdout:
Simmons’ representation had another discussion with the players association in which it was reiterated they would be unable to recoup the money being deducted from the $8.25 million sitting in escrow, sources say, and it was communicated to the Sixers that these early fines were perhaps higher than they expected.
Then its not a back issue but a mental health issueESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reports the Sixers are not fining him anymore for missing practices:
Some of this … is because of a standard provision in player contracts that says if you’re dealing with a mental health issue, which Ben Simmons has reported to the team that he is, he wants to work on himself mentally and physically this week, they’ve taken that in good faith and said ‘OK, we’re taking that that you are working on yourself menatlly and physically and we’ve offered resources available to you’.However, a team source refuted that. The source said the first time Simmons communicated his mental exhaustion was this week. On Friday, the Sixers communicated to Simmons and his representation that he’ll have access to whatever resources he may need while managing this situation.
Source: Keith Pompey @ The Philadelphia Inquirer
Then Morey has to release this statement“Yeah Ben came in at the end of last week and said he had back stiffness and he has, he’s dealing with some personal reasons off the court. Both [the Sixers] take very seriously. We’re working with Ben to provide every resource to help him with what is needed. And he spoke to his teammates, things seem to be moving very much in a positive direction. We’re gonna provide all the resources and get Ben what he needs and get him out there as soon as we can.”
Ben’s camp’s mistake is they should just declared it as a mental health issue from the get go. Not only could they saved a lot of money from fines/penalties but they would look less like liars.
So mental health issue just to go away from fines?
Back issue just to excuse yourself from practices?
Ben’s back and mental health seems fine for the entire offseason. He was even working out with some pros and never did heavy practice with the team.
I try to maintain an open mind but all the excuse just seems to have motive behind them.
Very few people admit to having mental health issues and especially in the sporting world
Just asking.
So for you, there’s no chance at all that Ben is just making the “mental illness” excuse to not get penalized from the team? Even 1%?

There's a lot of people on RealGM who basically have the opinion that the second anyone mentions the words "mental illness", it's against the rules to even hint at second guessing the truthfulness of the claim...
As someone who's dealt with mental illness personally, I for one find Simmons and his camps timing prettttttyyyy suspect.

Yeah it’s the timing of it that’s sending of alarm bells like it was break in case of emergency card being played once the pay was withheld/fines started happening.
Then the people of higher position and peers did a 180 but I suspect they are fuming, the disrespect is real. You want to get alienated by a group this is basically how you do it.
The organization has to do its due diligence under player protection and welfare.
If the report is true that he’s been seeing a professional months beforehand good on him it’ll do him a world of good imo. Sometimes it gets worst before it’s better
Also seeking professional help doesn’t equal mental illness.

Yes, many people seek professional help and many of them don't have mental illness. Also being afraid to play because the fans might boo you is not mental illness. If I would guess, I'd say Ben has narcissistic traits and anxiety issues, and he had troubles coping with all of this mess with his sister. But none of that would qualify as a clinical disorder, he could have been in treatment for all that and still at least attend practices. But of course this is just guessing...And the timing makes it very suspect.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
The thing about mental illness is that its diagnosis is virtually completely dependent on the way in which the patient presents himself and his issues. Mental health professionals are not trained lie detectors. If Simmons presents himself and his issues in the necessary manner, which isn't difficult, he'll easily get a diagnosis of mental disorder, even if only an Adjustment Disorder for example.
Mental health is not like traditional medicine. In traditional medicine a patient could go to a physician and say "I'm diabetic," and the physician could easily order labs that could refute that self-diagnosis. In mental health it's impossible to refute someone's subjective report. No one on the planet could take what Simmons tells a mental health professional he's experiencing right now and refute it.

Ben & Rich Paul were allegedly unaware of the Sixers right to levy massive fines
Also Ben: I am going to see a psychiatrist in the offseason so that the Sixers can’t hit me with massive fines
That’s some 4d chess
