Maybe the 76ers should set their sights on winning the new upcoming mid season tournament.

One of the beauties of not doing social media, watching garbage ESPN shows, or going on the GB here is not being subjected to the idiocy of people who live to schiit on all things Philly. Who the f***k cares what 'people' think anyway? When you let it bother you, they win.

Anyway, if Jo can't go, I see Reed as a huge X-factor! Celtics can have all the game plans in the world, but they don't have a game plan for Reed because his hustle, length, agility is completely unpredictable. Hell, this guy sometimes disrupts our plays, let alone opposition. He can create a complete havoc on the floor and have a huge impact. As crazy as it sounds, Boston knows how to set up their game against Embiid, but not against Reed. At least not for 1 game.

Trolls who come out from under their rocks for exactly that purpose. Who cares?

I'll throw this out there, even though some might think it's a stretch - we might have had a poor man's Dennis Rodman in Reed all this time, and an imaginative, open minded coach might have turned him loose sooner and created a monster that the league would have a hard time scheming for.

I could honestly see Reed being moved in another desperate trade this off-season to bring in another of Glenn's dinosaur rejects and becoming a wild card type player who wrecks games like Rodman used to do. He's clearly a round peg in a square hole type of player that a creative coach is going to unleash at some point in his career.

And let me just add. Doc should have been playing Reed a lot more this season especially knowing Joel's injury history in the playoffs. As other people have suggested they should have tried him at power forward with Joel. Even just to get him more playing time. All of this would have helped his development. Yes he was/is raw yes he makes crazy decisions but the more reps you give him the more you mitigate that IMHO. Just the coach being shortsighted.

I think a lot of us are just trying to have the hope for the best, prepare for the worst attitude. So much of happiness in life comes from expectations. If someone tells you a restaurant or movie is excellent, and you go there, if it’s now only just good to you, you might have some disappointment or at least more disappointment than if you had no expectations at all. I think most people here just don’t want to be disappointed again, but we will all cheer the team on and be ecstatic if they pull off the upset.

But it's exactly that rawness and wildness as a player, along with obvious talent that he has flashed, that a really creative coach might one day harness and make it part of the plan. With the vast majority of players in the league able to be pigeonholed and schemed for, here is a guy you can't scheme for, especially if he becomes savvy about picking up fouls. We'll probably never find that out here, which is why if there's no coaching change (which right now is almost a certainty) I hope Reed is moved elsewhere.

You're right, and I might have felt like that 30 years ago, but at this point I honestly don't live and die with this stuff enough for any loss to last beyond when it happens. Same with wins - I don't feel as if I won something, the way I see many fans act like now with all the trash talk and worrying about what people think and say. I guess not doing social media or having people in my everyday life who treat this stuff as anything more than entertainment helps.

I think we split in Boston without Embiid. Reed’s activity on the glass is gonna be a problem for Horford & Reed can cover/defend space on the perimeter well. As long as we’re defending decently at the point of attack, I think we can handle their offense.

A well established fact, and the only effective way to deal with a troll is to act as if he isn't even here. They live for attention of any kind.

It’s been gamesmanship this entire time. I get that it’s just set shooting, but if it were worse than a grade 1 you think he’s out there without a brace? He’s healthy.

I try to stay away from the completely neurotic, idiotic opposite sides of the spectrum and keep my balance from pure pessimism and blind optimism. Although these constant Embiid injuries and poor management choices is slowly but surely pulling me to the dark side of " F**k it ! It just ain't meant to be!" I guess I can continue to fight it untill the celtics series is over.

Well...I think you're overreacting. Maybe you're too emotionally invested in all of this? I've been watching the NBA since way back in 1990. Over the years I have learned to accept defeat for what it is. With that being said, we just saw the Heat beat the Bucks, the Lakers beat the Grizzlies, and if that can happen, then I'm going to withhold "doom and gloom", "poor pitiful me for watching this team" reactions until further notice. I'm also not going to drown the hopes of those around me just because of the way I feel.

Oh and I"m not exactly certain what makes my claim of wait and see what happens such an idiotic "opposite side of the spectrum" claim if that is what you are in fact implying. I never once said we were going to win the series. In fact idiotic would be saying that the Heat are going to beat the Bucks 4 games to 1 as an eighth seed in the playoffs and look at WTF happened. So while I am tempering my expectations on what's to come, I'm not going to sit around and call other people idiots for believing something different from me. It's called ideology and it's a vital component for communication and for basic humanity. You are right about the neurotic part...That's me all day...Still the challenge isn't to just go all out and overreact like some other posters on here love to do.

Kova I'm a big Reed fan. I wanted him to play more since last season. But expecting him to play and be productive in the 2nd round is asking a lot especially against Boston and their experience. We need Harden to up his game, Maxey to not wilt and now Reed to step in and be the starting center. Wow that's a lot for one game let alone a series.

I'm not setting that expectation by any means.. I just think that he has the ability to be an X-factor or a wild card guy for that 1 game we need to win where Boston doesn't have an answer.. Preferably it's G1 if Embiid can't go.

Vegas line is up to Boston by 10 for game 1. We are talking a pretty big upset now if we pull it off. I think there have only been a handful of double digit lines where the underdog wins outright in the playoffs (with it happening just last Boston series with the atlanta game 5 win to be fair).

I have more faith than most in a healthy Harden especially if he was indeed suffering from some Achilles issue. I saw this man carry scrubs every year to the playoffs even when his most important players sat through injuries. This team has depth, he has some chemistry with Reed, and Tobias has stepped up lately. We have Tucker and Melton. Maxey is better on both ends. I think he can steal a game.
