He’s owed $16 million this season and the Rockets can’t punish him yet so trying to move his salary

I’d take him for a first if I can offload an overpaid end of bench player too. That’s about it.

Easy to rationalise in basketball teams

Trade someone who won’t play much for another who won’t play plus assets

Suspect that some won’t see it through that lense & it will get a lot of blowback

Don’t understand why Rockets are contemplating it either as they aren’t contenders this season and are simply giving away pick(s) to rid themselves of someone who is highly unlikely to be there after season anyway

Tucker and Korkmaz for KPJ and a 1st.

Immediately waive KPJ.

Yea, I meant it from the lens of a rebuilding team that will take him off their hands for a high value pick and waive him immediately. Not necessarily us.

Anyone else get the feeling Houston will botch this rebuild? They've quickly come into tons of young talent after trading Harden not even 3 years ago, but I just feel like they're going to fumble this completely.

Signing FVV to that money is a clear sign they are trying to botch it.

Have the same gut feeling

Seems like some involved with the Rockets are impatient for success and wouldn’t be surprised if they make some dumb moves

Korkmaz's trade request has been hanging over this franchise for far too long.

Watched him on shoot around for two games. He seems to tweak his shot arc. He’s a much better shooter. He just have a weak leg form similar to dirk on his shot

Depends on your definition of fumble.

Problem with their team is their best players does not make others better. Jalen Green is more of an ISO scorer, Jabari is more of 3&D. I think the plan to run the Celts system where FVV plays that Marcus Smart role. Then they’d collectively do their dribble drive.

I think Dillon Brooks was a good signing. He’s a winning player if his offseason shooting translates. Which seems like it would after he trained with that machine in Canada that fixes his shot arc.

Does that machine fix shot selection? That's what Brooks needs.

And if so, can Tobias borrow it for awhile as well?

Brooks was shooting like 40% from 3 during FIBA and made 8 3s during the USA game. I also watched his tapes on those rockets practice and seems like his 3pt shooting has improved.

Against the USA vs Canada game. US would keep shading SGA, and hide Reaves on Brooks. How did Canada win? They let Brooks cook Reaves and he scored almost 40 pts.

Agree. Marcus Smart is also the silent facilitator for the Celts, without him it’s gonna be more ISO ball and less screening and less passing, but maybe Celts got a plan with White or Brogdon to take that role

FIBA is not the NBA, though. The line is much shorter.

And if we've learned anything, it's that summer shooting tapes mean nothing.

Woj is basically saying that teams would rather wait and see if Giannis, Embiid, or Luka come available than trade for Lillard or Harden.
