He is like Bo Nix old with a high floor but low ceiling, while Jared is a high ceiling low floor guy, being so young with only one year of college play.

You sound like you’re trying to have multiple arguments I’m not, I’ll just finish the thought that if Knecht wins ROY while averaging like 9ppg and nuttin else in the stat sheet, yeah that’s a ridiculously weak ROY year.

I suspect he will be a starter before the season ends as soon to be FA Dlo will be traded by the deadline. Similar to the starting rookie Podziemski last year while benching Klay. Your bias argument that Jared would score more as a starter over the Big 3 than a 3 point specialist avg 9 is naive. He would average closer to 22 ppg on any given night cause no one on LAL can score like him from 3s other than Monk perhaps with his catch and shoot ability. He reminds me of a young Klay so let that seek in before assuming 9ppg.

My only question is why didn't we draft him instead cauae if JJ was our HC, he definitely would have as he was the reason why they beat the Suns.

The point is he's a one trick pony. It happened the way it should, I don't have horse in this race as neither matter to me. They both can shoot, but McCain is 3 inches shorter. McCain is better as he has alot more in his bag. He can shoot, but he can also run your second unit. He can play point when Max is off the court. He can create and get in the lane. He can pass to the appropriate player and set up the offense. What can that old laker dude do? Stand there and hope they throw him the ball on a kick out.

i'm looking for more creators on this team, not a bunch of dudes that just stand around with their thumbs up there butts waiting. He is needed for the Lakers, but now we actually don't need that guy if we are healthy.

BTW, Klay could play D, that old dude can't.

Really gotta stop talking about arguments I'm not making. Please, man, let's leave that BS to the general board.

Also said several times I don't think McCain would be a ROY candidate, and I don't know why you think we're having a Knecht-McCain argument. Definitely never said anything to that effect here.

I'm just saying that this is probably going to be an extremely weak ROY class, and that anyone who can get minutes and put some okay numbers might well take it. Even if they're kinda trash.

If you want to complain about us not taking Knecht, maybe you and mjkvol can grab some citywides somewhere some time. Not my thing at all.

Leading scorer among rookies is Jamal Shead at 8.7 ppg

McCain with a consistent 20+ mpg role could emerge as an early lead in the race.

Which he couldn't do against other rooks during the SL but he's going to do that against vets? I'm biased too, but I also like to keep it real.

Really impressed with the ancillary traits in the early going. Double digit rebounding and assist percentages. He'll really fill-up the statsheet if he gets the minutes.

Huge game for Knecht last night in a win against the Suns.

1. Like we have never seen rooks struggle in summer league and then perform in the pros before? Summer league is more about non-rooks trying to make a name for themselves with very few teams able to run offenses. For example, Franz Wagner played very poorly in summer league.

2. McCain admitted he was pressing when his shot wasn't falling and that seeing it go down in the preseason took some pressure off. The kid actually cares that he lives up to his draft status, that's a good thing.

I love Jared a lot as a prospect and as a tiktok sensation. I just liked Knecht more if we need immediate production right now but Jared upside is higher as a better all around player down the road like in 3 years from now once Joel and PG retires and the ball is passed to the new generation led by Maxey. I am patient enough to wait but can the team wait?

Jaden Springer was a G league finals MVP but why didn't he stick around to make our roster?

McCain showed some proof of concept in the Pacers game. He got switched onto Siakam twice I believe and did a good job battling his bully ball, causing a turnover.

Not often, but sometimes small guards can be switch scheme ready. If he can do this in the coming years, I think he can be far more valuable than he appears right now. Not worried about his shot, that will come.

I hope we don't trade him. I think a Maxey/McCain backcourt can and will work and won't be unplayable defensively.

McCain with 12 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists tonight. Easily would be rookie of the year with a 25 mpg role and he put up these very reachable numbers. This class is that weak, in the early going.

He just needs time. His game sort of reminds me of Derrick White. MCcain IS more than a shooter. He's got creative abilities and could grow into a crafty offensive player. Would still take Knecht, but I'm not mad about McCain being here and I think the results will be worth it. He needs experience out there. He can get it with all the injuries and old guys on this team. He may even beat out both Gordon and Jackson at some point as neither of them are going to be big time contributors for this team.

I think he’s more like Payton Pritchard or CJ McCollum

That’s weird because I remember thinking he looked considerably bigger.
