Wondering if Trent Jr becomes this year's Kelly Oubre and winds up signing a one year 'prove it' deal for the minimum. Doesn't appear to be much of a market for his services.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 4
I'm hoping for that, I've wanted Trent Jr all summer, but reports said the Raptors offered him 15m per season and he turned it down because he wanted 18m per season. To go from 18m to the vet minimum would be a MAJOR humbling. Sounds like he may end up just taking whatever mid level someone throws at him. If the money truly dries up everywhere else and he has nowhere else to go, maybe it becomes realistic.

Now sign Marcus Morris, Pat Bev and Lonnie Walker and go win this thing.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

It's so sad Fultz can't shoot and is oft-injured. I would be interested in him if Lowry goes to Phoenix. He's a big guard, very good defensive and facilitating metrics. It's been said but he seemingly never had the right people around him, which sucks. Has a lot of natural talent and physical tools to work with.

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Basketball analytics, the internet, electric cars, computers the telephone, space flight at one time or another all considered the domain of the nerds. So I ask you what's wrong with nerdy stuff ?
I might leave electric cars off that list, as the internet, computers, or phones didn't need the government subsidizing and mandating their existence, among other reasons.

Were there the most powerful lobbyists in the country trying to prevent the existence of the internet, computers, and phones to preserve their self interest?

Discovery of vast oil reserves and investment in gasoline refineries and gas stations probably had nothing to do with it also

Id like both but know that's probably not gonna happen with limited spots but I'll take either one. Would love to see Fultz get some praise here after the fallout

Maybe not, but the internet, computers, and phones also didn't need government bribes and subsidies using taxpayer money to generate private investment and development. In other words, any product in demand that is functional and profitable will thrive in the private sector without need of government "assistance".

To the contrary! Giving him attention just makes him stronger.

You prefer Pat Bev straight up over Lowry?

Still very possible that the GTJ/Nurse relationship is going to prevent him from coming to Philly…regardless of (any reasonable) contract.

I'd prefer Dennis Smith Junior as a defensive guard with some juice in his legs, that can push the ball and finish some. Though unlikely
But definitely Kyle over Pat

As much as it pains me to say it due to my love for Kelly. But Trent even makes more sense as a starter than him. Could be a great situation for him.
Just the threat of these apron talks has created some outstanding deals for the middle class player in the NBA for teams. Sucks for them

The Internet exists because of taxpayer money. It originated as ARPAnet (then became DARPAnet when they added a 'defense' in front of Advanced Research Projects Agency for the Defense department of the United States. The very foundations of it to this day are the TCP/IP connection parameters that were created a half-century ago by them. The testing and development and roll-out is because of tax-payer money that allowed the National Science Foundation to give money to universities in order to have them purchase the super-computers necessary at that time to establish the hubs at universities that then had basic access through dummy terminals.
From creation to actual 'private sector' you're talking about close to 3 decades of taxpayer money that helped create and build-up the infrastructure for it.
You can apply similar things to computers and telecommunications. The development and advancement was government funded. The space program (taxpayer money) had a huge hand in the advancement of those avenues.
So some of the biggest areas of technological improvement and changes that we take for granted today were massively pushed along by taxpayer money with the government either directly developing them, or funding/helping to fund companies to develop or improve them for the benefit of the government.

You mean like the entire US rail system?

Ironically, the entire highway system, which essentially killed the expansion of rail travel in this country (among other things), was a US Gov't creation.

There's also the fact that product viability/profitability isn't the only, or even the most important consideration when it comes to EVs. Over-reliance on fossil fuel consuming cars is obviously a big part of climate change. The market clearly isn't going to address that issue, and government has a role in doing so, imho. (Whether EVs actually turn out to help climate change is another issue, and an open question.)
