Re: Joel Embiid -- The Process is now Live
That much was obvious, the question is the severity of the tear.
Any this should.... should put the nail in the coffin for the medical staff. They let him play vs Houston with an injury that goes on to require surgery? Fireable offense.

EDIT: Refuted.
Here’s it is in all its vague glory, with one reported detail worth noting (bold emphasis mine):Sources told ESPN.com that Embiid and the Sixers have been extensively exploring treatment options in the wake of a partially torn meniscus and bone bruise in Embiid's left knee that he suffered in a January practice.
A recovery timetable won't be established, sources said, until after the procedure.
...
However, the assertion regarding when Embiid suffered the injury — assuming Stein indeed has this correct — would be an absolutely huge deal, if true. Bryan Colangelo initially claimed the team was unaware of whether the meniscus was previously damaged or not when he suffered the bone bruise against the Portland Trailblazers on January 20th.
If the injuries stem from a January practice instead, the franchise will have outright lied about their knowledge of the injury. We’ll reach out to the Sixers for comment on the timing and nature of the injuries, and keep you updated on any developments in this ongoing story.
EDIT: Refuted.

Still has it wrong whether it's up there for 30 minutes or 30 days. He hurt his knee vs Portland.

That's what the sixers have said yes. This wouldn't be the first time they have misstated something about this injury. It was just a bone bruise after all.

That's not what the Sixers said, it's what we all saw. He dunked, his knee buckled, and he grabbed his knee in pain. The question was never when he hurt it, it's how severe he hurt it, and if he hurt it worse by playing vs Houston.

There were multiple injuries though. It's possible the bone bruise occurred during the Portland game then the meniscus was torn during a practice.
I have no idea what happened. As long as they continue to be so cloak and dagger (and keep having their players suffer setbacks) there's really no reason to believe any narrative in particular. Especially not theirs.

I'm not sure the medical staff should be blamed, unless they gave the OK for him to come back in the Portland game.
As for the Houston game, I believe the blame for that one is at the feet of the Snake Scott O'Neil.

They misdiagnosed the severity of the tear though. Remember, they kept saying the bone bruise is causing the swelling(which made no sense) and then weeks later they were like "oops... we just found out it was the meniscus tear causing that and it's worse than we thought."

The Cavs, Warriors and Spurs are laughing in the face of Silver's mandates. Our weak-willed management bent to Silver's mandate and now our budding superstar is having yet another lower body surgery, minimizing the length of his athletic prime even further.

Noel
MCW
Embiid
Saric
Okafor
Simmons
Out of all our first round picks since 2013 only Saric hasn't missed any extended time. Crazy. Whoever we draft this year better not get hurt.

Surgery was always going to happen. What the **** is taking so long? Teams management and medical staff are the worst.

My guess is it isn't overly serious and they wanted to try and rehab it first before surgery.

If this team F'ed up this guy's career because of 1 meaningless nationally televised game, I will never forgive them.

An incompetent medical staff combined with an injury prone 7 footer. Very worrying.

Yeah it is very MINOR surgery...so with the Sixers...that means Embiid will be out about 8-10 Months.

I'm not trying to offer some kind of hot take or be overly dramatic but will it be shocking if he doesn't play at all next year, given the track record?
Not to me it wouldn't.
