An ok off ball defensive PG with tonnes of athleticism should be the focus.
If 76ers stay at #3 they should be picking Smith or Fox unless someone else wows them at a workout.

I agree that Smith Jr. should be very high on this team's big board and I think he's being severely slept on; primarily because he played for NC State instead of UK, Kansas, Duke, UNC, etc. I'm pretty confident that if he played for an elite program, he'd be a surefire top 5 pick. That said, I won't be at all surprised if Smith Jr. ends up being the best NBA player from this draft.

Many people don't realize it, but the program a player comes from often subconsciously plays a major role in their perception of that player.

Kyrie only played 10-games. Never really got to see him play in College. Couldn't give an Honest answer. How about this though. (Based on how I viewed them at the time of their drafts)
1. Ball
2. D Russell
3. Beal
4. Fultz

ok, this is where I need someone to explain to me Ball. He can't penetrate, is honestly underwhelming in the half court, and is a defensive afterthought (though he has potential there). He is a great secondary and transition passer, is pretty dynamite in transition overall, he's smart and avoids doing things that he is bad at. The shot has its pluses and minuses obviously. Am I missing something? I feel like I'm missing something because you're not an unreasonable dude and I can't jive the concept of him being in Kyrie's ballpark.

He is a point guard and Kyrie isn't. Teams with Kyrie at the 1 won't win unless they have someone else running the the team.

Ball comes in to any team in need of a point guard and makes them better instantly.

Ball is down right special in the vision, passing, and facilitating areas.

Josh Jackson's assist to turnover ratio is concerning especially since people say that his ball handling is a strength. He registered that assist to turnover ratio while being guarded by college PFs and Cs. What happens when he is guarded by NBA wings? In conference play Josh Jackson had more turnovers than assists.

Anyone else think Isaac is a dark horse candidate at 3? The kid has some serious potential and doesn't constantly need the ball in his hands to effect a game

Isaac is the type who could rise, given his size and long term potential. I would take him at 4. I think BC is determined to improve the backcourt though.

I could definitely see Ainge falling for Isaac for fit, and perhaps trading back. Imagine Sacramento and their idiot owner putting a package together like 5+10+WCS for 1. Ainge drafts Isaac and Collins, signs Hayward, and all the sudden they're pretty deep.

I would still take Jackson #1, given that his player archetype is most likely to impact winning, but Kyrie (in his short sample space) was probably the best player of the bunch.

He was at like 70% true shooting or something disgusting like that. Probably the best offensive player I've ever witnessed in college basketball.

1. Jackson
2. Irving
3. Ball
4. Fultz

This thread needs to be burned and buried somewhere in Antarctica.

Kinda like your sig-worthy comments in the Okafor threads.

Yes I was here when Okafor was drafted, talked about how good he was than and all my comments about him since then have been positive. Seems right.

Would be theoretically cool to have Ntilikina to sick on these combo guards around the league.

07 Kevin Durant is still the craziest **** I've ever seen in CBB. Freshmen just didn't come in and do that back then.

Thinking of Kyrie's sample size, Imagine if Malik Monk played 11 games like Kyrie (UNC was 11 I believe). While not showing the same variety of skills, his production in that time period was insane. Someone could be thinking of overdrafting MM like crazy right now.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Super Cool Beas might be in the discussion, too.

33 and 16 per-40 shooting 56% from the field, 38% from deep and 77% from the line.

If Fox can become a 36% 3 point shooter he will probably be the best player in this draft. I really like him.

I'd like if we got Frank Mason with one of our 2nds. Not a ton of upside, but just a steady, NBA ready player with basketball smarts. Nice backup PG.

I remember @Negro liking him, but anyone willing to take Edmond Sumner in the 2nd round? Or is lack of range a complete turnoff? Career 28% three point shooter on 0.6 makes per game.

Before the injury, he had pretty nice burst and explosiveness. Excellent defender, great penetrator, good distributor. 6'5" 170 pounds with a 6'9" wingspan.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
