The Kings are awful, they'll have a 10-12 game losing streak at some point to get things back to normal.

To be fair, the rebound bounced around so long that they didn't have time to do much. That was a junk shot from Lou Will, though, probably could've got something better off a timeout. Either way, that was basically a 50/50 game and the Lakers just didn't pull it out.Unbreakable99 wrote:Lakers are dumb. They didn't even call timeout at the end. There wasn't enough time to play it out without calling timeout.

Re: 2017 Pick Watch (Sac Swap Rights, LAL pick)
Was doing a little research on future picks today and lost in all this BC nonsense and the fact that Hinkie has been gone for a while now, I completely forgot about how many freakin picks we still have coming up. Those 2nd rd picks Hinkie accumulated in his time here was incredible. We've got 13 picks inthe next 3 drafts! THIRTEEN! We have enough picks to get a whole new team.
With last years absence from the 2nd rd last year, I sorta forgot about how many we still have in the future. Guess I need to start doing some more scouting on the 2nd round projects and international guys again. Weve got 2 2nd rounders coming up in this draft.

Key game tonight. Lou is going to miss another buzzer.

Lakers down by 20 at half time. 12 minutes for their best player Williams, and 17 for one of their worst (Ingram). Looks like they are going to go for it for that 50/50 shot at the pick.

Lol, Kings up at halftime against the Warriors again.
This Warriors team is suspect.

Re: 2017 Pick Watch (Sac Swap Rights, LAL pick)
I know this year's draft looks particularly strong in the lottery and it would be nice that the Laker pick conveys, but even if it doesn't I'm not so sure having the Laker's unprotected 2018 pick is a bad thing. If they pick up Fultz, Ball or Jackson, will any of them improve the Lakers drastically?
They still have Deng, Mozgov and Clarkson eating up their cap space. Any of those rookies basically takes time away from DAR, Ingram or Clarkson - not to mention the Lakes two best players, Lou Williams and Nick Young - so they are duplicative.
Further, regardless of who they get with their top pick, the Lakers are horrible defensively which doesn't look to improve. They can't really sign any significant FAs and even if they could, which good FA would want to sign with the Lakers. There is a very high probability that the Lakers end up with one of the worst 3 records in 2018 as well, in which case they have a chance - a decent chance - of getting the #1 overall pick. I don't know what the crop of potential prospects looks like in the 2018 draft, but having a top 3 pick in 2018 with a decent chance at getting the #1 overall pick, doesn't sound so bad if the Laker pick doesn't convey this season.

We want the Lakers to keep losing. The worse they finish, the better the chance of us getting #4, #5, or #6 from them. And worst case it conveys to next year when they should still be a terrible team and wings like Luka Doncic and Michael Porter will be available.

I am a Laker fan that likes to read this thread... And everything he said is 100 percent true... I also like 76ers, because I used to live in Philly... and I always imagine if the Lakers picked Jahlil Okafor like they were expected to instead of D'angelo Russell... 76ers would have Russell, Embiid, and Simmons... and that is a championship core in the future... Russell and Simmons would work perfectly together... Very unlucky for you guys... I wanted to ask, are you guys happy with Brian Colangelo, or would you still rather have Sam Hinkie? I'm asking because I am a big Sam Hinkie fan... And I would love if he came to the Lakers...

I don't see any superstars in this draft. A lot of nice players but no number 1 options. I wouldn't hate if the pick pushed again. I don;t see the Lakers improving much next season.

I wouldn't hate it either but I'd be pretty happy with us getting it this year in this weirdly perfect PG+SF draft, and not having to wait another year for some sense of what our core is. If the pick was #4-5 we'd be picking in the Tatum-DSJ-Isaac zone, with maybe a shot at Ball or Jackson if something weird happens. That'd be nice for us--but at the same time maybe not amazing enough that we have to be upset about going in to next year's draft with a likely top 5 choice.
Also, this might be sour grapes since the Lakers will probably trade Lou Will next week and fall off a cliff without their best player. Starting to get myself used to the idea of another year of waiting on this pick.

Yeah, I'm fine where we're at, we either get a top pick or it becomes unprotected and we get an opportunity in the Luka Doncic sweepstakes. I don't believe the Lakers will improve much.

Re: 2017 Pick Watch (Sac Swap Rights, LAL pick)
A good point about the 2018 unprotected LAL pick.
My question is this:
Would you rather have a guarantee that the Lakers pick will convey in 2017 (and will be #5 for this argument's sake) -- where you get one of Monk, Isaac, Fultz, Ball, Jackson, DSJ -- assume the Sixers get one of the top 5 picks as well and end up with one of those guys already. So would you rather have 2 of the above, or...
Would you rather have one of the above plus the #1 pick in 2018?
Compare the prospects of who would be #1 in 18 versus the list of 17 guys above. What are we looking at there?

I have don't very little research about next years draft, but say the lakers pick turn into #5, is that draft deep enough to where we would still get a very good player?

That's where I'm also curious. Is Michael Porter going to be better than Isaac or Monk? Who is Doncic? Is he better than those guys in the 5 range of 2017?
