Russell or Porzingis. (or Mudiay or Hezonja)........
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Re: Poll: Who do you want with #3? (VOTE AGAIN)
D'Angelo Russell "killed it" at his 76ers workout on Wednesday, according to a 76ers team source.
"He was talking about how excited he was about Philly," the source said. Russell has to be excited about the idea of getting significant playing time with the 76ers right off the bat. From a fantasy perspective, Russell's best landing spot is easily in Philly, where they will run an up-tempo style, allow him to shoot treys and get big minutes.

Also, why don't you throw Okafor into the poll. I would like to gauge the Russell v. Okafor debate.

He's been here a day... did he see Southwest Philly yet? How does he know he loves it?

I've been here 25+ years and haven't had to see SW philly yet. Keep him in CC, take him down broad for the games and he'll be fine.

Yeah if Dangelo is drafted by Sixers he has $12 M coming to him in the next 3 years. More likely to be hanging out in Center City or The Main Line than SW Philly. If he's hangin in SW Philly we got a problem.

SW Philly = Hooka-Ville?

IDK,... Porzingas & Noel at the 4 & 5 might be a novel foundation for Philly's "Small Ball" line up. Embiid sits out 2015/16... PHI & LAL 2016 lotto picks plus MIA & OKC picks and spend on FA in the summer 2016 when Saric joins the team. TANK #3 here we come.

I see our choice as being very simple.
1. Towns
2. Russell
3. Okafor
in that order
unless one of them is severely injured in the meantime

Russell cancels workout because he's sick...End of the world hype
Has great workout, loves Philly...nothing, par for the course here in Philly.

Screw it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Re: Poll: Who do you want with #3? (VOTE AGAIN)
Big board:
1.) Mudiay
- IF he can be a good shooter, he'll be a complete dynamic match-up nightmare PG who can attack in infinite ways whether off the post, off the dribble, ISO (via strength, quickness, athleticism), off the PnR and at the perimeter.
- With an improved shooting and refinement of skillset, has the chance to be a top tier or superstar PG (PER & BPM).
2.) Porzingis
- Potential perfect frontcourt player in this era of small/big line-up flexibility roles.
- Deadly pick and pop game, good athletic to be a good defensive player and finisher around the rim.
- I see him as being a 15-18ppg 8rpg 1bpg 1spg PF/C similar to celtics KG.
- Tied with Mudiay in upside.
3.) Russell
- Has shown potential to have elite shooting and passing skills in the NBA.
- Big risk if PG game don't translate in the league. Not saying he'd be a bust but he'd be a less intriguing prospect for me at SG.
Overall:
I voted Mudiay because I really prioritize upside with a top 3 pick.
I think there's a misconception on Mudiay because of his shooting in HS and playing in a weak competition in CBA. But you can't deny his combination of PG skillset, IQ, athleticism, length and strength. It's the similar rationale that made me root for Embiid last year.
People say Mudiay reminds them of Turner, maybe it's because of his shooting. Being a big ET fan, actually I think Russell is the guy that is more similar to ET. They have different styles of game. But I don't trust OSU's system of putting flawed swingman and letting them play PG. Defensively, their defensive capability in defending top tier PGs in the NBA is hidden. While offensively, being larger than their opposing college PGs, they were able to either shoot or bulldoze their way against them. What happens when they became liability defending star PGs and slide to the SG/SF role that would take away their size advantage over their defenders? Can they score against good swingman defenders like Kawhi, Iguodala or Shumpert?
With regards to team fit. I like the Idea of having 5 good defensive players that can defend multiple positions. Offensively, I like guys who can breakdown the defense and get their teammates open looks and space the floor at the same time. I know people like Russell because they expect him to be the derek fisher to Embiid as Shaq. But I'm thinking more of a dynamic offense in the Spurs/Rockets mold where Mudiay as our Tony parker or Embiid as our TD, breaking down the defense and opening looks for our 3 and D guys and easy hoops for Noel.

Or a 6'5" Kemba Walker. Mudiay is a good player, but you're vastly overstating his upside, IMO.

I just hope they are both available at #3 because I really do trust Hinkie in making the right decision. I prefer Russell because I think he is just a better basketball player and will be more impactful (WS, PER, ORTG). However, if Hinkie sees something in Mudiay then I'd be on board.

Interesting read. The three scouts they selected are absolutely gushing about Russel, so there's that:
