IMO he's being clever . He's always been a good playmaker even in college. He became an elite scorer when he went to Houston. I dont think people were saying he couldn't win in his prime because he was an explosive scorer , they were saying it because of how ball dominant he is. He's still pretty ball dominant but he is no longer a guy that can give you 40/50 when needed thats pretty obvious . Its ok but acting like it's a sacrifice instead of a drop off in ability is deceptive.

Yeah I picked up on that too. He's the only person on the planet that actually believes that bs. He simply cannot score like that anymore, otherwise he would. He's also known for postseason struggles dating back to his OKC days. James Harden is still a very good player. He's become a great point guard, he still gives you 20/10 but the days of him scoring at will on any defense are over.

Right now outside of Jokic there isn’t a better playmaker in the nba.

To have a legit shot deep in the playoffs you have to have everyone making plays whether it’s on defense, rebounding, or stepping up when a star is getting game planned against. This team is showing that. Last game it was Reed and Tobias. The one prior it was Maxey. Even in the regular season you saw them get stops and gut out wins. I think other fans are seeing that this year and have legit concerns we might be better than they want to admit. Harden is going to contribute as much as he can for the team to win. But in the end the team will win because they are a championship level team. I think we will beat the Celtics.

With a healthy Embiid, yes we can beat the Celtics. Without Embiid I don't know that it's possible. I do think James Harden is one of the most intelligent basketball players in the NBA. He's right up there with LeBron in terms of basketball IQ. He would have to fully control the series for us to have a chance at beating Boston. We need Embiid at full strength to beat them.

The happiest ending in this relationship (and for our future) is if we win a championship and then S&T him to Houston. Harris's contract expires after next season, and maybe we can find ourselves players in free agency of summer 2024 and beyond. Or we use Harris's expiring + Maxey to go after another top-10 player.

Maxey and Harris isn't getting you a top-10 player.
I don't love the idea of giving Harden a big long-term deal, but letting him walk does more damage to this team than having an albatross a few years from now. They don't have the assets to replace him.
