Accusations of him not being able to finish when the entire team is a bunch of misfits. Accusations of him being easily replaceable by scrubs around the league. The list goes on and on.

Unbelievable how someone can think like you do. Because the Sixers aren't promised a superstar, they should never, ever, EVER think about getting a top 5 pick. What kind of logic is that?
And you talk about MY plan. What about yours? Only being bad when there is a Lebron-type in the draft. There is no guarantee that player becomes a star. Lebron could've easily been a total bust. So why go after my thinking when yours is no guarantee, either?
Again, twisting words as you fit. I clearly said I wouldn't mind tanking for next year's draft, for example, because the talent pool is much more stronger. Without knowing what kind of talent you can potentially get and you go ahead tanking anyway. What kind of logic is that?
My plan? We wouldn't be able to do anything until both Iguodala/Brand's contracts are removed/expired. Being stuck with either one of those limits the FO's ability to maneuver the personnel to make any drastic changes. Therefore, I am not totally against trading Iguodala for Kaman's expiring if the team is determined to fully rebuild. At the same time, you need to somehow find a way to unload Brand, which is very difficult until the last year of his contract.
P2K wrote:Glad you didn't talk to Danny Ainge before he made his moves to get Garnett and Allen.
Danny Ainge was making a desperation move since none of his previous personnel decisions work. You don't see teams trading away their entire roster for 3 players. That is simply a rarity. New York tried to do that with Carmelo, and look where they are? They got long ways to go before they become a serious contender.
You can argue the Heat did it, but it was more because Lebron, Wade and Bosh wanted to play together and pushed for it, as oppose to a GM making moves in his last desperate attempt to save his job.
Like you always say with the Clippers, they are a terrible example to use to prove your point.

No, what you fail to comprehend is that a team with a lower pick...a playoff team maybe...that needs that final piece would value plenty a top 5 pick, even in an average/weak draft.
You really are out of your depth here. Your logic is like...mush.
Hahahah, you really have trouble understanding any other individual's perspective not named you. That is such a shame.

Accusations about him jacking up shots whereas his efficiency has improved over the years.
Well, he did used to jack up shots. I never really got on him about that, except at the end of games. But other than that...
Accusations of him not being able to finish when the entire team is a bunch of misfits.
Iguodala isn't a great finisher. How is that an accusation when it's true? He's adequate, but he has a hard time getting the ball to the basket.
Accusations of him being easily replaceable by scrubs around the league. The list goes on and on.
Tony Allen, Thabo Sefolosha, Shane Battier and so on aren't scrubs.

PhillyFan wrote:76ciology wrote:Given a chance to do it all over again, would you honestly sign Iguodala to that 6 year contract $80,000,000 contract?
Would you pay that much money on someone who is better off as a fourth to fifth option on offense in a championship caliber team? If you want a defensive specialist, then sign a guy like Tony Allen. If you want someone to be your team's main facilitator, then ask your PG to do that Job. If you want a finisher off the break, then let anyone do it.
Iggy is very versatile and is an efficient player, that explains his high PER numbers and is definitely not a useless player you trade hedo or jrich for. But paying him that much money is, IMO, unnecessary. And that makes him overpaid. It's not because he isn't worth the contract, the issue here is if it's necessary of pay a jack of all trades, master of none (role player as some would call) type of player that much. He's not overpaid because of his worth. It's more of an issue of proper allocation of the team's salary budget.
It's like instead of doubling the size of your house because of an expanding family, you instead spend it all to a very expensive door that is made of rich mahogany and studded with gold. Yes, it might be worth it. But is it really necessary to have a very expensive door?
Luol Deng might be overpaid. Josh Smith might be overpaid. Joe Johnson might be overpaid. But all of these overpaid players would benefit the team or most of the teams more than Iggy and his fair contract.
Just my two cents.
That's the double standard I don't get.
Hindsight, that offseason I would not have persue Elton Brand and kept the cap space (since there aren't any other players worth getting that off season). The problem was, after signing Iguodala and Brand, our top 3 were them + Dalembert based on the contracts. That's just asking for mediocrity, and it is completely on Stefanski. He took a major gamble on Brand, hoping the injury he suffer would not affect his game and in fear of the fans going after him for standing pat.
Both Brand and Iguodala played hurt and don't complain or whine about it.
Both of them have great work ethic towards the game.
Both are recognize for their level of impact in the ball game.
Yet Brand rarely gets any criticism for his game. Why? Because besides him, we have no one else in the front court besides a bunch of role players/scrubs. Therefore, his presence in the game is completely magnify in comparison to Iguodala's game. As highlighted by many others, Iguodala manages to deter the performance of a lot of the league's top wings. I cannot agree with posters here thinking role players like Selofosha, Tony Allen, Matt Barnes, etc could easily replace Iguodala's defense. While players like Shawn Marion or Luol Deng may appear to do a better job, because their roster plays much better defense overall.
I am not against the idea of trading Iguodala, because unless Turner develops into the scorer we want him to be, the team as constructed will go nowhere. Mind you, I don't think we should tank unless we expect a strong draft in the following year. Tanking while getting no Lebrons in return is pointless in my opinion. I would prefer we stay competitve and not play Eddie Jordan basketball in the meantime but that's just me.
And you didn't answer the question, would you have given Iggy that 6 year and 80m contract? Also if he was worth that money, we wouldn't be talking about trading him all the time.

He has hard time getting to the basket partly because we have no one opening up the space. Not just him, other players on our team have a tough time as well.

Back to the whole 'Rumor' part, which was what this thread was about pre-pissing contests.
ESPN is reporting that GSW/PHI are talking about Iggy/Ellis swap.
Any third teams that we can get to take Ellis?

if we are to trade for Monta, we need to unload Lou Will.
The 2 of them would be redundant on this roster.
Jrue/Ellis/Turner, not a bad trio if Collins can keep Ellis from hogging the ball.

thats' the key, Snider get to save some cash for his beloved Flyers.
Plus, it seems like defense is not valued by the causal fan these days. Maybe Monta's high scoring average, if not done inefficiently, will get some fans to the door?

Monta Ellis wouldn't make sense without any upgrade at the C position.

I think Monta's inefficiency is a little exaggerated. Sure, he is a volume shooter, but he increased his efficiency in every facet of the game last season, putting up solid assist numbers, lowering his TO/g, and playing better team ball in the Warriors games I watched. That said, he is a sub-par defender and can be a black hole on offense at times. I'd do this trade, though, because his skill set fits better with ET and Jrue, and because it gives us better range. Like everyone has said, we'd absolutely have to move Lou if this trade went down. Perhaps package Lou and Speights/#16 for a defensive big or a draft pick that would allow us to take one of the 3 international bigs. Sign a vet pg and you'd have:
Jrue - veteran
Ellis - Meeks
ET - Nocioni
Brand - Thad
Biyombo/Kanter/Jonas/defensive big -Hawes
Not bad moving forward. I'd love it if they could work a Speights/Udoh swap in, but I doubt they give up on Udoh already.

Why would this mean Lou needs to be traded? Lou/Thad still provide an advantage most nights from/ the bench, and you now have a #1 scoring option in the starting lineup. Still need more length/toughness inside, but this type of deal shouldn't force a Lou trade. Not my first choice for an Iguodala deal, but the value is comparable.

He increased his efficiency quite a bit, but he's still not efficient, and he still turns the ball over quite a bit.
