Brett told you that during family dinner last night?

I like that Brett is feeling the heat enough now to go public with a mandate for Ben.

That being said... we all know that Ben is going to ignore it, right? And continue to shoot once in a blue moon? And if questioned about it will just deflect and not even give an answer?

Yeah, I was gonna say, what do you think, about 25% chance he takes one tonight?

I'll be really encouraged if he does (make or miss).

Agreed. If he listens it will be an excellent sign.

I would take the prop bet against it, though.

True, however even without a jumpshot Simmons has the size and handle to be a 20ppg scorer, the aggressiveness is what's missing more than anything else. Curious to see if he's passive against the Raptors or comes out like this again.

Yup. I also find his aggressiveness as a bigger issue than not taking those shots. Like I said, he can score 20 if he has a better motor like Giannis or Corey Maggette

Damn, that press conference was pretty telling for the weird dynamic between Brett/Ben's camp. Bless Bret's heart man, he's gotta privately and publicly plead with the camps of players (Simmons, Fultz) to get them to shoot a damn ball. What is this league coming to?

I am wondering how people will feel if Ben comes out and literally takes (and makes) 1 corner 3 per game the rest of the season, and finishes 61/62 from 3 on the season, with a 98% rate. Lol

But if that's all he does, would defenses even adjust their game plan???

This is the overwhelming problem with Ben in my mind.

If he's ONLY taking an open corner 3 one time per game, even if it goes in every single time, defenses are not going to adjust for a 3pt play.

They'll keep sagging in the open court, they'll keep giving him wide open looks and doubling on Joel because 1 shot per game isn't "changing" the game.

Now, if he comes out firing a corner 3, a top of the key 3, and a transition catch-and-shoot 3 per game, and makes 40%+ of them, defenses will most certainly adjust to that!

Until he unlocks a consistent alpha scorer mentality, firing away from 3 multiple times per game, no self respecting coach will adjust any defensive schemes.

Good game by Ben. Zero free throw and 3 point attempts is kinda awkward though...

But he was aggressive going to the hoop. Which is something that has not always been there. Good game. Needed win against the Raptors. And thus team is still missing a starter.

I know a lot can happen between now and then. But I bet Ben is looking forward to 12/20/2019. A national telivised game when the next "best player in the NBA " Luka. Comes to town.

If Ben keeps playing aggressively and has the defensive intensity that match up should be great.

I think the last couple games Ben has been phenomenal defensively and I cannot wait to see the match up with Doncic. Although I would assign Thybulle on Doncic to start...

Gunna be kind of tough when Thybulle starts on the bench.

Beside Ben would get first go regardless... he has been as good if not better than Thybulle and can't forget that Doncic is 6ft 6". Thybulle is only 6ft 4". Ben is a better matchup.

Simmons has always wrecked Doncic's game , you start Ben on him and go with Thybulle only if Ben gets in foul trouble.

Has to be Ben imo

Doncic would take Thybulle in the post and I don't think he's strong enough yet to handle it.

I am looking forward to this game though. I plan on going in person (I live in Philly so I'm a dual Mavs/Sixers fan)

Can anyone explain to me why the Raps defended him weirdly? They were staying close at him when they should be sagging off him?

Was it because he was more aggressive?

after he hit all those jumpers in the first half i felt like the cavs were staying close to him as well.

because the cavs are so bad, most people will put it down to individual players going rogue on whatever defensive system they have going, or maybe the coach not given a ****, or even the players. but once you see a guy like ben simmons drill 3 jumpers in your face before half time surely that would make you a but more inclined to get a little closer to him.

that being said...why kevin porter jr was doing a full court press on ben for the entire second half...i do not know lol...but mabye he was scared of the jumper?

maybe the raps watched the cavs game playout and felt he was a shooting threat so to not sag so much?
